During our July staycation, DB and I finally got to try Be Our Guest! I was super excited because I've been wanting to eat here since the moment I found out it was going to be part of the New Fantasyland expansion. I was a bit nervous because its gotten some very mixed reviews and I didn't want to spend all that money and not enjoy my meal, but I figured that just being in the restaurant with all that atmosphere would make it worth it. Well, I'm happy to say that I loved it and would definitely go back again. Here was our view, walking up to the restaurant:

When we arrived, we were escorted to the West Wing, which I kept hearing was the best room to eat in so I was super excited about this. While the main room is absolutely stunning, the tables are so close together and it is really loud in there. I was there with my DB and my friend and her husband so the West Wing was perfect for us. The room was dimly lit, but much quieter so we were able to carry on with our conversations. The only minor disruptions were the thunder and lightning, which we got a bit tired of after getting stuck in a HUGE thunderstorm at the Magic Kingdom that afternoon

The first thing we did after being seated was to ORDER BEER! As WDW vets, we've never been able to drink at the Magic Kingdom, so beers were a must. And they were GOOD beers too. I had the Chimay and it was perfect with my meal.
After looking over the menu and debating what we wanted, 3 out of 4 of us went with the Scallop and Shrimp in a Puff Pastry.

We all LOVED this dish. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce/puff pastry were delicious too. The only complaint was that only 2 scallops were included and I was craving for more because they were so good. Next time I will ask for more, if possible. DB got the steak but substituted the pomme frites for the macaroni el gratin. I didnt try the steak but he really enjoyed it. I did eat a bite of his macaroni though and it was yuuuuuummy. Very flavorful and not your average theme park mac and cheese. This stuff was seasoned perfectly. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of his meal.
Finally, dessert time! DB and I couldnt decide between the grey stuff or the strawberry cream cheese cupcake so we ordered both and split them!

The Grey Stuff was pretty decent, but the strawberry cream cheese cupcake blew it out of the water. I really liked the icing on the grey stuff (cookies and cream panna cotta from what I've heard) but the brownie itself was rock hard. Made it difficult to eat. I'll have to try the cupcake version at lunch one day to see if I like it better. The strawberry cupcake was perfect though. Light and spongy with the perfect amount of icing. I'm a huge sucker for anything with cream cheese frosting.
And to end our experience at Be Our Guest, we got to meet this guy:

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Be Our Guest. Our food was delicious and our server was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, was great with all of our questions (especially involving substitutions) and was humorous when we were giving her a hard time about ID'ing us for our drinks. I would definitely come back here again! In fact, we did just a few days later but for lunch.
Our lunch experience wasnt quite so magical, but I still enjoyed it. The woman working the front of the restaurants was pretty mean so that put us in a funk before we entered the restaurant but thats a long story. We also felt extremely rushed once we got to the ordering kiosk (we hadnt had much time to look over the menu beforehand) so this got DB really flustered. We both ordered the Croque Monsieur, and while I loved it, DB wasnt crazy about it. He said the cheese had too much seasoning and that it was not worth the money it cost. I'm hoping he will be willing to try something else on the menu because I'd love to go back again.
Hope you all enjoyed my first dining review and I should be back with another one soon! Next on the list is Tusker House for lunch next weekend!
