During our July staycation, DB and I finally got to try Be Our Guest! I was super excited because I've been wanting to eat here since the moment I found out it was going to be part of the New Fantasyland expansion. I was a bit nervous because its gotten some very mixed reviews and I didn't want to spend all that money and not enjoy my meal, but I figured that just being in the restaurant with all that atmosphere would make it worth it. Well, I'm happy to say that I loved it and would definitely go back again. Here was our view, walking up to the restaurant:

When we arrived, we were escorted to the West Wing, which I kept hearing was the best room to eat in so I was super excited about this. While the main room is absolutely stunning, the tables are so close together and it is really loud in there. I was there with my DB and my friend and her husband so the West Wing was perfect for us. The room was dimly lit, but much quieter so we were able to carry on with our conversations. The only minor disruptions were the thunder and lightning, which we got a bit tired of after getting stuck in a HUGE thunderstorm at the Magic Kingdom that afternoon :rotfl2:

The first thing we did after being seated was to ORDER BEER! As WDW vets, we've never been able to drink at the Magic Kingdom, so beers were a must. And they were GOOD beers too. I had the Chimay and it was perfect with my meal.

After looking over the menu and debating what we wanted, 3 out of 4 of us went with the Scallop and Shrimp in a Puff Pastry.

We all LOVED this dish. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce/puff pastry were delicious too. The only complaint was that only 2 scallops were included and I was craving for more because they were so good. Next time I will ask for more, if possible. DB got the steak but substituted the pomme frites for the macaroni el gratin. I didnt try the steak but he really enjoyed it. I did eat a bite of his macaroni though and it was yuuuuuummy. Very flavorful and not your average theme park mac and cheese. This stuff was seasoned perfectly. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of his meal.

Finally, dessert time! DB and I couldnt decide between the grey stuff or the strawberry cream cheese cupcake so we ordered both and split them!

The Grey Stuff was pretty decent, but the strawberry cream cheese cupcake blew it out of the water. I really liked the icing on the grey stuff (cookies and cream panna cotta from what I've heard) but the brownie itself was rock hard. Made it difficult to eat. I'll have to try the cupcake version at lunch one day to see if I like it better. The strawberry cupcake was perfect though. Light and spongy with the perfect amount of icing. I'm a huge sucker for anything with cream cheese frosting.

And to end our experience at Be Our Guest, we got to meet this guy:

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Be Our Guest. Our food was delicious and our server was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, was great with all of our questions (especially involving substitutions) and was humorous when we were giving her a hard time about ID'ing us for our drinks. I would definitely come back here again! In fact, we did just a few days later but for lunch.

Our lunch experience wasnt quite so magical, but I still enjoyed it. The woman working the front of the restaurants was pretty mean so that put us in a funk before we entered the restaurant but thats a long story. We also felt extremely rushed once we got to the ordering kiosk (we hadnt had much time to look over the menu beforehand) so this got DB really flustered. We both ordered the Croque Monsieur, and while I loved it, DB wasnt crazy about it. He said the cheese had too much seasoning and that it was not worth the money it cost. I'm hoping he will be willing to try something else on the menu because I'd love to go back again.

Hope you all enjoyed my first dining review and I should be back with another one soon! Next on the list is Tusker House for lunch next weekend!

PS- Can anyone tell me how to post some not so ginormous pictures? Scrolling over to look at pictures is one of my pet peeves.

What a solid review of BOG. That is a shame your brownie was hard :confused3 Your entree looks great! I have only had the soup there for dinner. This time around we are going to try lunch, I am so looking forward to finally trying the grey stuff. I am not sure how to resize your pics.

My brownie was hard at BOG also - I will have to try the cupcake next time, the strawberry one looks delicious!

Thank you for posting your review of BOG. My DH and I are thinking about dinner here in March but we are unsure. It's great to hear that your overall experience was good considering the mixed reviews it has received.

I'm not sure how to re-size your pictures, you may have to do that before you post them in photobucket.

Thanks! I know when I'm looking for new places to dine that I like to see as detailed as possible reviews. It really helps to decide whether you think the restaurant will be worth it or not. Definitely try the lunch at Be Our Guest. While it is a bit pricier than the other quick service restaurants at Magic Kingdom, the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Plus, now they have a return fast pass ticket for lunch there so you dont have to wait in the long line.

You're very welcome :) I would suggest looking at the menu to see if anything appeals to you. If so, book it soon! I thought it was worth the money and everyone at out table loved their meals, so I only have good things to say about the experience.

So glad to have read this review - looking forward to our dinner there in Jan!

Just back - had a late dinner ressie at BOG on 10/6. We all give this a 10. The theming, the atmosphere - stunning. Being buzzed and coming to the castle entrance, met by a fully attired CM with a luminere, the huge doors opening just for us, the foyer of the castle - amazing. The service was the best we've had at any WDW restaurant. Attentive, on point, and also entertaining. The food, even after 9 pm, was excellent. The bread, crispy and warm, crunches as you break it; the butter, soft and just right. The steak was cooked perfectly. The lamb exactly right. DW had the braised pork, at the recommendation of the server, and she said it was better than what she makes. Portions were just right. The Shrimp and Scallops, as pictured in the previous posting and described, was just as we found it. The desserts were great as well.

We were invited to "wander" the castle afterwards to see the rooms, as well as, of course, visit with the Beast.

This was the best of the best, and should not be missed.

Glad you had a wonderful experience! We felt the exact same way the one time we have been fortunate enough to dine there. I can't even imagine some of the negative or even ho-hum reviews, unless they suffer from a consistency problem like many other WDW restaurants. Glad yours was great and we can't wait to go back sometime!

I suspect they got stuck in the overflow room, the rose gallery. We had a fabulous meal there last year in the ballroom. Tonight, we were stuck in the rose gallery, which feels like being in a cafeteria. One whole corner was full of big brown carts (not the dessert ones, service looking ones) I got up at 4:00 am to make the reservation and we have been looking forward to it for 6 months because we had such a great experience there last year. DD's face fell when they walked us into the room, she was trying not to cry, but she couldn't help herself. I took her to tour the other 2 rooms and that made it worse, big silent tears, not the fit throwing kind, but the I'm really sad and can't stop them kind. It was all I could do to not cry too. I took her to the bathroom to wash her hands and someone had just thrown up in the sink. The poor CM was in the process of trying to clean it up. That was it for our appetite. I was going to try to take her to lunch Friday to sit in one if the good rooms to make it up for her, but they are doing a FP+ lunch only right now and I could not get a FP so that is out.

FYI- what is under the grey stuff is a cookie not a brownie which is why it is hard.

Great review!:thumbsup2

My family always wanted to eat at BOG but every time we'd try and book it, there was no availability.

Maybe with our next trip we'll be lucky.:scratchin

Keep trying. or get friendly with one of the workers, we did and got in right away. Its who you know i guess. Anyway it was a great experience. Food was 8 on scale of 1-10 in my book but I'm from NYC so my bar is pretty high Good Luck

Can you request which room you eat in? I definitely do not want to be in a cafeteria for dinner.

Your shrimp and scallop dish looks so good! How many shrimp did you get with it? And the puff pastry, what kind of sauce is that and did it make the pastry soggy? What else was inside the pastry?

Sorry for all the questions.

I loved that shrimp in puff pastry dish - the server let me get all shrimp and leave out the scallops, there was tons of shrimp in that nice creamy sauce YUM! The puff pastry didnt get all mushy either. If I can ever get another ressie there I am getting it again for sure!

Thanks for the review! The strawberry cupcake looks and sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Thanks for the review! I have a dinner reservation at the beginning of November and we really want to dine in the West Wing. What's the best way to approach our reservation, should we call in or ask the hostess when we arrive?
