BDL - MCO Who Flew This Past April Vacation?

Just wondering what your rates where out of BDL to MCO during April vacation.

We are doing a land/sea April 17, 2005 and was wondering what I could expect to pay for flights.

Hello Neighbor!

Spring school vacation fares are ususally high! They start high when first available and just go up from there. Trust me, I checked flying into Orlando, Tampa, Melbourne, Sarrasota, and Fort Myers! I also looked at flying out of Providence (a hassle to drive there and no savings).

For April vacation this year, I booked Song BDL - TPA at 330 days out for about $340 RT. I checked daily and there was one day where the return fare dropped by about $60 per person (used the voucher for our August '04 DCL cruise!) So we ended up paying about $280 pp RT.

My advice is if you find anything for $260 RT or less, jump on it! Some will say to wait for Southwest to release fares for your dates. I've found that when they do, they are not the typical low Southwest fares. They start high as well.

We paid $280.00 this year for April vacation out of Logan Providence & Hartford were much higher.

I started checking in early December, and every time I checked Song, it was around $340 or more. I got SWA for $206, but that was pure luck ---- it was literally a few hours after the April fares were released and seats were disappearing super fast. Our friends got SWA for $176 because they were flying on different dates and willing to take an 8:30 AM return flight. As good as the SWA fares were, I wouldn't count on getting them --- it was a madhouse since this was a peak travelling time.

PS I was happy with the SWA fare, flight times and flights --- thoroughly disgusted at the rude, sneaky, "entitled" tactics of some of the people flying out of Hartford (and just as disgusted that the SWA staff weren't monitoring the boarding situation and requiring everyone to follow their so-called policy).
