While we are in WDW in June DS will turn 14 and youngest DD will turn 11. I've told them they can pick their favorite restaurant to dine in on "their" night. Anyone have any ideas for a neat surprise for them? THANKS!! :wave2:

There's some really great options for birthday dinners in Disney. The Illuminations or Wishes cruises are both great fun, and while they aren't dinners per say I think your kids would have a great time. Wispering Canyon Cafe is a fun, kid friendly place for a b-day dinner as is Ohana's at the Polynesian or maybe even Chef Mickey's. I'm not sure how your kids are when it comes to food (some are more picky than others ;) ) but whatever they decide, have a great time! Oh, and if you want, here's a link to the menus from all the restaurants in WDW. You can have them look through it and see what they would want to do.

Hope that helps :wave2:

I'm interested in seeing the responses. My son will be turning 12 in DW this year. I plan on us eating breakfast at the resort restaurant (normally we'll eat in the room) and then when we get there, "forget" something in the room and go back and quickly put up streamers and put out his presents. He'll find them when we come back for a break later in the day. He's requested we eat at San Angel for his birthday dinner, so I made a PS and will let him pick out a special birthday souvenir from Mexico.

I don't know what else to do. I was thinking of putting out an extra nice tip for the mousekeeper and asking her to leave him an animal towel if she could.

Oh, and of course we'll get the free birthday buttons from each park as soon as we get there.

My DS picked O'hana's for his 16th b'day dinner in Jan - I had mentioned it was a birthday when I booked and asked for a table near the window to watch Wishes - he feigned total embarrassment (well, maybe he wasn't faking ;) ) when the lovely Hawaiian MC came to the table with all the kids and they circled around him with their instruments and sang HB :rotfl: - the rest of us enjoyed it !! The part he didn't mind was how she kept telling him how handsome he was !! We had a great table to watch the fireworks, but the boys ate so quickly that we were done a bit early and they wanted to head over to PI - so we left our table 20 min before Wishes (made the day for some other family, I'm sure, and we had gotten to watch from there on my birthday) and DH and I walked down and watched the fireworks from one of the cabanas on the beach - much more romantic for us !!!

DS wasn't at all interested in wearing a b'day button, but others of us have on our birthdays and it's a lot of fun. I had read a tip on the DIS that someone made a little sign that said "Today's my b'day" and held it up behind their teen throughout the day when they saw characters, etc. We didn't end up spending much park time with the boys, so I spared him that but thought it was a cute idea!

We booked the Segway tour on the morning of his b'day - you have to be 16 to ride and he has always been fascinated with this technology - it was the highlight of the trip - something I know he'll never forget doing on his 16th !!!

The other thing I did was order a guitar themed candy basket from Feralpeg that was waiting for him at HRH - it was adorable and the boys loved having their own little stash of candy.

Have a blast - celebrating b'days at WDW is sooo much fun. :smooth:

Don't forget to stop by Town Hall (building on the left when you walk in) to get a "Birthday" badge to wear in the park.
