BCV - The good and the bad (no Gellato)

:sad1:This is why I always tell my kids to never get too attached to any food they sell at Disney. We've slowly seen most of our favorite things disappear. :sad1:

If you ever pass through Atlanta - stop by Paolo's in Virginia Highlands for awesome gelato.

Starbox-thanks
May 1st I am flying into Atlanta where my DD & DGD, who live in Canton, are picking me up and we are driving to DW together. After our DW visit I will be going back to her house, then flying out of Atlanta. Maybe we could put this on our to do list!

You totally should:

It's pretty amazing - they have a live gelato-cam!

Noooo! I loved the Mango gelato. :( First the french toast loaf, now this.

I'll miss the gelato also. Even if not staying at BCV, I'd always stop by for a gelato when walking from EPCOT to DHS!

Now, please don't tell me they've stopped the Apple Blossom pastries also.

As of yesterday: yes to the movies still being shown on the beach. And Yes to the Apple Blossoms still being sold. ;)

Sorry for the delay in responding to everyone. We seem to be distracted with getting up early, going to the parks, eatting dinner etc... And my DS 14 learned that they are holding the High School National cheerleading competition this week and teams of young (mostly blond) girls are trasping all around him. However he seems to be more interested in the rides, unless he is good at looking sideways without actually looking sideways.

The one other thing happening at BCV is that they have closed the bus stop due to road construction. Currently, you have to get the bus behind the villas in a parking lot where they set up tents. Very inconvienient for those at the Beach Club but easy for those at the villas. Weather is beautiful mid 80's and we just learned its supposed to be in the 40's Sunday back in CT when we return.

All the outside of the villas and the BC have been repainted and it is absolutely beautiful.

The pool has been renovated and the sides and edges all are new. Beautiful. They are closing part of it again May 25th for minor renovation but don't know to what extent that is. Both water parks are open, which we are not used to in April and the crowds are moderate. We got on 10 rides at Magic Kingdom Wed. Flowers at the Festival are great.

Seems MA, CT and NJ are all on Spring Break based on the Yankees / Redsox arguments we have heard on the buses.

Finally, no rumors from any of the bus drivers.

I did ask who to talk to about the Gellato situation and was told to simply mention it to the front desk.

Going to Rose & Crown for the first time tonight to experience Bangers & Mash. DS wants Pizza of course.

One other thing. The TVs. All flat screen and the slowest channel changers I've ever seen. Almost painful to try and flip through the channels. And DS found that they no longer have the cartoon channel showing the old Disney cartoons like Goofy Football. Very sad. What will they take away next?

The construction has started in MK, where Ariel used to be. The construction site extends back to the train tracks just before the ToonTown Fair stop.

I think they raised the price of the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream. Could have sworn we paid $21.99 last year. The price is $23.99 now. We passed. Once is enough.

NO Gellato:eek: We I guess that $100+ that Disney's not going to get out
of me anymore. We used to end every night with gellato!:sad1:

Well we arrived home to 48 degrees in CT after approx 88 degrees yesterday at Typhoon Lagoon.

Absolutely terrible flight home on Delta - everything that could go wrong did go wrong both in takeoff and landing at Kennedy. Actually checkout at BCV did not go well as the front desk person kept making mistakes with my rewards points. Seems its easier for them if I give them the rewards card the first day on checkin to set up a credit on the account.

Just reset my countdown clock - 68 days til our next trip to BCV - this time I'm going to upgrade from a studio to a 1 BR. 5 days in a studio was OK but I really miss the full kitchen and Jacuzzi and larger balcony. Room 240 was in the inside of a L facing the woods and we ended up keeping the curtains closed since we were also facing several other balconies and had no privacy.

Our final night included Fantasmic. Got there at 7:30 pm for the 8:30 pm show and it was practically filled!! There were several Choir groups there trying to out do each other chanting while waiting for it to start. An english couple said it reminded them of a soccer game (which they strangely call football) with all the chanting.

Last post for this trip.

Just before getting on the ME, I filled out a survey and indicated my displeasure with the cancellation of Gellato. According to the CMs in the market place, we were to tell the front desk. According to the Front Desk, we should fill out a survey. Nice pass off.

Either way, all of you that want the original Gellato back and are staying at BCV need to fill out that survey (CMs are walking around with laptops with the survey on it) and demand that Disney bring back such a great product.

Oh yes Beaches and Cream is closing to make way for a larger Arcade.

(Just kidding):)

You'd better be kidding about Beaches and Cream. I think I need to drown my sorrows there with a No Way Jose Sundae just in case! You can be sure I'll be looking for those CMs with the surveys next time I stay there. I was so shocked-no gellato-that I went over there yesterday to see for myself. Suere enough -those empty shelves! The area looked so sad!

It does look empty. My DS 14 had a vanilla milk shake this time at B&C and he was so proud of himself for finishing the glass. I them poured the other half of the shake from the metal cup into his glass. He didn't know what to do, he was so full. I drank it.

I was bummed they were doing away with the fresh Gelato. The CM told me on our October trip that they were going to prepackaging, i'm glad they still had the "fresh" Gelato during our trip in February.....at least we have Gelato in the mall here now :)
