We're staying at BCV Aug 20-27 (checking in on Sunday). We have a dedicated 2BR 2Queen, and the only request I made was for non-smoking. Do they assign rooms ahead of time, or is it better to get there early in an attempt to get a desirable room?

We have always found it a good risk, wherever we go, to get there early. We have many times gotten our accomodations before noon. :thumbsup2

I believe it's definitely room ready because I was offered my choice of two rooms when I arrived.

One was ready. One was not. We waited, to my own disbelief!!!, because the one we were waiting for was fifth floor Epcot side and we wanted our guest to be able to see Illuminations.

I showed up at BCV in May with my maps and room print-outs, and was NOT offered any choice (I even asked). But maybe it's because the check-in CM was still earning her ears.

We checked in at 6:00pm and our only requests were non-smoking and dedicated 1 bedroom and they had neither! The CM said if we had checked in earlier we would have had the room requests granted. I did tell them that we should have been there by noon time but the airline didn't let me fly the plane so we were delayed for 6 hrs. at our airport! (January travel can be tough from New England!)

I am a firm believer that the sooner you check in the better your chances are for what you are after.

Happy traveling to BCV!

We stayed there 3 weeks ago and each position at the check-in desk had a notice taped next to the computer offering CMs a little prize (candy etc.) every time they checked someone in using room ready.

We stayed at BCV last week and I called the night before arrival and set up the room. If you call within 24 hours they will let you choose. We arrived the next day at 2pm and they also offered us a second choice if we wanted.

My last 2 trips I have different experiences.

In June 06, the CM, who was earning her ears, looked at the computer and whispered to her boss CM "they asked for xyz and all I see is abc". I was then shown a map and offered 8 or 9 great choices! I made this reservation only 1 week ahead of time if that may have had any bearing. We checked in around 11 am.

In Jan 06, I had requested some of the same things as the OP .. 2 bedroom dedicated, 2 queens, non smoking, upper floor and near the elevator. We checked in around 2 pm. We were already assigned the room and it was perfect and ready! I could not have picked a room that would meet all my requests better!

For our 6night stay last Aug we were not offered a choice

Corpcomp-What # did you call and what did you say when you called.
We're flying in from Seattle and this room ready stuff drives me nuts.
All I NEED is a nonsmoking (medical reasons) and want to be assured I get it, which Disney doesn't seem to get.

Those of you who've called the night before - do you call MS or the hotel directly? We don't arrive till late afternoon, and I'd love to reconfirm that we've requested non-smoking and non-accessible. Thanks.

Wow, this is good to know. We're at the Poly the week before, so it will be easy to call the night before. Do you call the front desk?

This thread reminds me of our (me, dw,dd,ds) very first stay at DVC (BWI). We arrived after the check-in time and they did not have a room ready for us. They gave us 4 park-hopper passes for the whole week. WOW we were very happy to wait.

I"m wondering if they have assigned rooms for "medical request" and room ready for everyone else. I always have 'non-smoking for medical reasons' because of asthma, and they always seem to have a specific room for me that I usually have to wait for.

I would have thought that could be true until our last trip (see my post above). I always request non smoking medical reasons as my DD has asthma.

Call the hotel, not MS. It is much more successful.

The hotel number is: 407-934-8000
Ask for the front desk, not reservations.
