BCV renovations....

Rumor is it on the Y&B Club thread that there will be renovations at BCV starting soon the poster mentions Nov? I am just curious if any one here on the DVC membership heard about this? It'll make our first stay home even more special with a gorgeous updated look! We were spoiled last trip with one of these renovated studios at the BC resort. Any word?

Stormalong Bay is scheduled for rehab beginning in January and that is expected to run through end of March or early April. It will be done in sections so there will still be some of it opened as work progresses.

I don't know about villa renovations , sorry I couldn't be of more help .

None of the DVC Villas have ever gotten an updated look. Renovations happen over time - they don't renovate all the rooms at once, but take them out of service continually for repairs - which might be paint or might be carpet, or might be both. Exceptions are when they do something quicker - like replace all the couches with the new type of sofabeds over six months or so - or get DVD players into all the rooms - but the couches didn't change their look when they did that.

We're at BCV right now and there aren't any renovations going on right now here at the villas. There are rooms being completely redone at Beach Club resort. We walked by them a couple of times today and it looks to be a pretty complete renovation; new carpet, paint, fixtures, furnishings and flat screen tv's. Hopefully the villas will be renovated sometime soon, they are definitely showing wear and tear and starting to look a little outdated. I think I notice it more this time because we moved over from AKV where everything is fairly new.

There was a permit posted with Orange County that looked similar to VWL's fall renovation. I think the completion date was listed as April??

OK looked it up...

It looks like a bunch of painting, caulking, reupholstering, putting in new carpet, etc.

The expiration date of the notice of commencement is 3/21/09. Whatever that means. I'm assuming it's an end date but you know what assuming does.

Renovations at DVC don't usually amount to a "new, updated look". They usually replace the carpet with similar looking carpet, maybe a different manufacturer/grade. They replace the furniture with similar looking furniture, again, maybe different manufacturer.
