Checked into BCV 9AM on the 10th. Room wasn't ready, a studio, so, we headed to Epcot, and at 1 PM found that 249 was all set for us. Great condition, location faced the woods. SAB was wonderful, dinner at Cape May Cafe was perfect and Herman's Hermit's put on a great show. This was our "40th anniversary of meeting each other" (on the Boardwalk at Seaside Heights NJ, great Boardwalk!) vacation, and this night set the tone for wonderful times yet to come.

The next day we arrived at OKW for check-in and our room, a 1 bedroom was ready at 8:30AM. I cannot walk down stairs easily, so I had asked for an elevator building or 1st floor, well, we got the first floor in an elevator building :) . The villa was 6314, and it was wonderful, great condition, great, great, great! Our new goal is to spend a 2 week vacation in a 1 bedroom at OKW  Now, from our balcony you could see the bridge with traffic, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be everyones choice, but it did "work." The balcony faced the golf hole, there was a stream, and a gaggle of ducks would come for bread in the morning. (Is there a story behind the duck decoy that's placed there?)

The first day, at Epcot, one of the Epcot greaters noticed my DIS button, she mostly posts on the cruise board, and I don't remember her name, maybe timon :confused3 but we had a nice chat! I met KarenB on an OKW bus :cheer2: and I've read her wonderful reports of her vacation.

Our highlight, ending the WDW stay was a Wishes cruise with "dwzicc" and his family! What a great time we had and it was great meeting him and his family. I had gone on the Disboard that has posts for joining people who had room on booked cruises and boy were we lucky. It was wonderful sitting in the boat, hearing the music and seeing the fireworks (we saw tink fly) and then no crowds to beat getting back to the resort. We had driven our car to VWL for the evening.

We ended our 9 night Florida stay at a Marriott resort on Hutchinson Island. What a wonderful resort, but the hotel was not oceanside. There was a tram that ran continuously from 7AM, maybe until 11 at night from the hotel, to the golf center, to the beach, and that worked for us. The resort provided umbrellas and beach chairs, which is a definite plus over VB, but we both missed VB.

Our final highlight was snorkeling in Biscayne NP, in Homestead. It was a drive, about 2 1/2 hours to get there, and we had tried previously to get out on the water when we were staying closer, but weather was against us. This is a NP that's 95% underwater, and the reef had beautiful coral. Our captain said that John Pennycamp SP (on Key Largo) had a wider variety of fish, but the NP had better coral. Don't know, when we tried the SP 2 years ago, weather conditions weren't good and snorkeling was cancelled. So, long drive or not, both DH and I were glad we went.

Great accomodations at both BCV and OKW, we are so glad we joined DVC.

It was so nice meeting and talking to you on the bus! I believe you are the first DISer I have actually meet. The fact that you had you DIS pin on gave me the okay to chat for a few minutes.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip. It was really hard to come home this time. We wish home was really Old Key West (or Hilton Head, or Vero Beach ).

40 years of togetherness....congratulations!

Glad you enjoyed both resorts. Thanks for the report. :thumbsup2

The 40th anniversary of meeting each other seems to be an excellent reason to visit WDW together, and it sounds like it didn't disappoint.

Glad it was such a wonderful vacation! Thanks for reporting! :)

So glad you had a great time on your recent trip. 40 years, how wonderful!! :thumbsup2 DH and I met each other 25 years ago this past March and I thought that was a long time. LOL! Like others said, what a great place to celebrate. :cool1:

Sounds like a marvelous trip!
Since you were likely under a GV, did you have noise from the hardwood floors above?

No, we didn't hear many noises at all, from anywhere. There were cars in the parking lot, so I know there were others around. I remember hearing someone in the studio, perhaps a child, a few times, but that's all.

Glad you had sucha wonderful trip! I always tell friends that my favorite Boardwalk, after the one at WDW, is Seaside Heights or Point Pleasant NJ. I grew up in NJ (proud of it!) and there is nothing like driving over the bridges of Barnegat Bay to get you PSYCHED for the beach (and pizza and Italian ice.)

We stayed at OKW in March and after check-out on our last day, we walked around and fed the ducks and took pics because the weather was so lovely. We actually lurked behind the very building you stayed in, looking for ducks to feed. My kids thought that little golf-hole island was very cool, and said they would like to stay in that building sometime.

In a little over 2 weeks we leave for Beach Club and I can not wait!

Have a great time!

I'll be in NJ, Cape May, for most of July. I know what you mean about going over bridges and anticipation. For us it's the final bridge over the canal as you enter CM. Even my dog, Buster, knows, he could be sleeping, but the hump of the bridge gets him up and looking out the window in anticipation. Maybe it's the smell of food cooking at the Lobster House.

In December we adopted 2 more dogs from a family member, and so, instead of going back and forth a few times in the summer, it's 600+ miles, I decided to stay with the pooches and enjoy the shore. (Unfortunately, one dog took a turn for the worse and passed, so we only have 2 now.) Daisy was with us in Cape May in December, so it will be a bit sad as the loss sinks in again. She was a water dog, and enjoyed swimming in the bay.

PS. I really enjoy being in that area of OKW and hope you get to stay there sometimes too.

That's such a lovely report Bobbi and sounds like you had a memorable time. Good wishes for the next 40 years :wizard:

My very DGF told me that the first 50 years were the hardest! I don't care, I think this may last.
