We're headed home for the first time at the end of September and I'd like to take advantage of that huge tub in the master bath of our 2 bdrm villa. For the sake of all, let's keep this thread "CLEAN", OK???

What products work best in the tub? I'm thinking of bubbles or bath oil, etc.

Also, will lighting a couple candles (in votive holders, so they won't start a fire) set off the smoke detectors??

Remember, we're keeping this thread CLEAN!

Thanks!

I use Bath and Body Works country apple scented bubble bath. Be careful which scent you use. This may become what you remember about your trips "home." I am not a bath person, but use that tub religiously when we stay as BWV. So, I buy one or two bottles of the stuff so I don't run out on vacation. Then just store with my WDW stuff until my next trip home. ENJOY!

You're in a big bath tub...how else can it be anything but about being clean. :p

Unless they're huge torches, candles should not set off any fire/smoke detectors unless you hold them close to sensor(s).

As to items to use in a tub, keep in mind a full DVC tub will hold alot more water than your typical bath-tub....so you'll need more stuff.

Bubble bath will work, but you may wind up with too many bubbles if you start the jets. Bath oils and/or bath salts might work less frothily.

And since we're worried about being clean, don't forget to clean out the tub when you're done....mousekeeping isn't perfect.

If you do a search on 'bath oils' or 'bath salts', you should find more than enough products (and people willing to sell them) to get an idea of what's available.

Hope this helps,
Joe
[who winds up being too relaxed in a hot tub to be anything but clean]. :p

As someone who's used the tub at VWL, same size as the one at BCV I think, they really aren't big enough for anything but a one person roomy bath. It's really just an oversized tub with a few jets, not a two person whirlpool tub, if you get my drift. I've tried and failed making it into a two person tub, and we're not large people!!!

Hubby and I are pretty large and I felt so self-conscious when we both couldn't fit into the tub at Hilton Head like we did at the Poconos but jelo's post made me feel a little bit better :teeth:. Thanks - now we won't attempt to get in the tub together at OKW now that we know its only made for one!

The tub a OKW is much larger than the ones at BWV, VWL or BCV.
2 fit just fine, and I'm not "tiny", not even close.

I saw the photos of the BCV that another poster has here. I wondered about the hot tub. Darn - only one person, huh? OKW does hold two adults.

It's been a while since I mentioned it, but I do have a tread on my Disney Vacation Club Hilton Head Resort on the topic of

How to Jacuzzi 101

It's clean, and it will give you lots of tips.

Thanks guys for letting me know about the OKW tub. DH and I will definitely give it the old "college" try and see if we can both comfortably fit in it.

Tommy - thanks for the jacuzzi 101 tips. I actually printed them out and took them with us on our first trip to HH last year. DH thought I was a bit strange standing over the tub reading directions :D but it was worth it to make sure the tub was clean!

I've got the perfect stuff - - - bath salts from Bath and Body Works. I use lavender/vanilla for the evening, and it is SO relaxing!! It won't bubble up, either, but will be aromatic and work with the jets to keep a small layer of slight bubbles just at the top of the water.

If you don't have a store near you, check ebay. The Aromatherapy line is just awesome!!!

(and yes, OKW is plenty perfect!!! Tub and everything else.)

My whirlpool at home and the one in the bed and breakfast we go to (big enough for two, faces a fireplace, and we don't bring children) both say bath oil is bad for the jets.

I use Aveda's bath salts. Burt's Bees has a very unromantic theraputic one that would be nice for park feet.

Check the box or bottle. All the ones that I have for use in our home whirlpool say right on them that they are safe ffor whirlpool tubs.
My other hint is to follow the directions for the amount. Most of the ones made for whirlpools don't really suds up, but using too much of something that does make suds will make you feel like you are in an old Lucy episode (growing bubbles all over).

  Been there...done that. And it was a real "Lucy" moment. The tiniest drop of Mr. Bubble will give you plenty of suds. I've since learned through this board that maybe bubble bath isn't the best thing for the tub anyway.

Thanks everyone for the tips and hints!

Tommy, I'm printing your Jacuzzi 101 page and sticking it in the luggage!! It's very easy to read and understand and I have a feeling I'll need it!

I'm headed out to the local Bath & Body Works for some of that lavendar/vanilla scented stuff and anything else I might find.

You all have been most helpful!!!

Warm regards,
