I'm starting to plan our summer 2013 vacation for my son's 6th birthday. We want to stay at BC or YC for Stormalong Bay. We plan on hitting the parks very early, swimming in the afternoon and going back to the parks at night for dinner and to ride. Is one better for young kids? Thanks for the help! :)

Both are lovely but you will probably find BC to be more beachy and informal. Either are wonderful choices!

We chose the Beach Club.

Aside from what I've read-- that it's a bit more geared towards kids than the Yacht Club-- here's my ulterior motive:

Walking back from Epcot, at the end of a long hot day in August, the Beach Club is closer. I've requested a (balcony, garden view) room at the Epcot end; I'm hoping that helps even more.

Probably silly, I know. But it makes sense to me. I don't mind us walking across the resort to StormAlong Bay-- my kids have lots of energy when it comes to swimming. But the end of a long day is a different matter.

Both are wonderful!

We started coming to BC/YC when the kids were 6, 7 and 8. Before that we were die hard monorail resort fans.

In 2006 and 2007 we stayed at YC and loved it. In 2008 I could only get BC with an AP rate. I was a nervous wreck that we wouldn't like it as much as YC. Turns out we liked it even more. We've been staying at BC every trip since 2008!

Both places are great for kids.

We like BC a little more for the following reasons:

light and airy
closer to BC Marketplace
closer walk to EPCOT

If we couldn't get BC we would stay at YC in a New York minute!

YC rooms do almost all have full balconies, while BC has about half full balconies and half Juliet balconies, if that makes any difference to you.

Have fun!

We stayed at the BC last summer for the first time after over 14 trips to the BW. We will be returning again in Aug. and we just loved the BC. Very friendly and family friendly. We just stayed at the YC in June for the first time. It was really nice but for us we enjoyed the relaxed feeling at the BC much more. You won't be disappointed with either.

They are both excellent resorts and you can't go wrong with either.

I will agree, the BC is a bit more airy than the YC; but that is not to say the YC is not kid friendly, it is Disney afterall. One drawback with the BC is that not all the rooms have a full balcony. If this is something you would like to take advantage of then I would make sure you get a room with a balcony.

As for BC being closer to Epcot: My personal opinion is to NOT let this be a deciding factor when deciding between the two resorts. The difference in distance between the two resorts is perhaps a couple hundred yards and a minute or two at best. Not a big deal when you factor in all the walking you will be doing. Either way, you will not go wrong.
