DH-44 (20 something trip!)
Me DW-41 (Trip planner!)
Well we finally decided, or rather I asked my DH to give me something special on my 41st Birthday since on his 40th I had thrown him a party with 75 family and friends and had it catered etc. He politely informed me that he did not have the special ability that I had to put together a HUGE birthday party for me! I then smiled coyly and said but dear...you know what I really would like and in a twinkle of his eye he and I repeate at the exact same time...DISNEY WORLD! And so it began my trip planning was off to a great start! This was Oct. 2000. My birthday was Feb. so I decided to go right before my actual b-day and so I picked these dates!
Now we had just planned a 2 week trip in Dec. 2000 with 17 of our family members so I thought it would be great to get back from that trip and then have something to look forward to in just a few months! I got into heavy plannning mode and VOILA! Our trip was planned to perfection. So here goes.....
Our flight left at 7:30AM and I only prayed that we wouldn't get snow and get delayed. My prayers were answered and we only had to De-Ice the plane as there was heavy frost but no snow! Another plus was that I had hurt my knee right before our Dec. trip and in Jan. went to the doctor's and the MRI confirmed that I was headed for knee surgery. They planned the surgery for Feb. 20th so our vacation was a go! Anyway the paln ride was uneventful and we used National Emeral Aisle. We got a cute Eclipse and sped off to the BC. As a treat I have reserved the BC Concierge and we were excited to be trying the concierge there for the first time. (WE were not dissapointed!) We got our room by 11 AM and surprise...the weather was to be in the 80's all week! WOW! What a treat.
We had PS for lunch in Mexico at San Angel and we walked over after changing into shorts and short sleeves! What a beautiful Sunny day it was. No crowds at all! We got seated by the river and had a wonderful romantic lunch. I have to mention that our DS who is 16 has been to WDW with us since he was 4, and we go 2-3 times each year so this was our first trip by ourselves in 12 years! I am a vegetarian so I asked for the veggie menu but there wasn't anything I liked so I asked if they would bring me a child's portion of 3 flour tortillas with only the veggie stuff to fill them, chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour creme, avacodo dip etc. It was perfect! My DH had the Chicken Salad in a giant tortilla shell!
We walked over to Test Track and went on the single line with a 5 min. wait and sat together! Then I did some shopping and Imagination and some more shopping! Walked back to the rooms and changed into our swimsuits and used the beautiful thick white terry robes they give you to walk to the pool. THe hot tub was nice and hot! We then walked to the Concirege lounge and had some wine and cheese before we headed back to EPCOT for our PS at the Bistro in France.
What a lovely night. I wore a sweatshirt and shorts but I am always cold. My DH only had a short sleeved shirt on and he said he was warm! The Bistro was romantic and the food great. My DH had the lamp chops and I had an appetizer for my main course. I had the Foie Gras and we both had salads. We skipped dessert because we headed back to the Concierge and had Cordials and wonderful desserts there! We watched the TON parade after dinner and held hands as we walked to Japan to pick out a pearl for our son. It is a tradition and he has one from each trip we have been on! He says he will someday make a necklace for his wife to be ! Anyway I picked out a small looking oyster that was hiding under a rock and low and behold it was the biggest pearl yet! 8 1/4 mm and pure white! They made a bid deal out of it and beat the drums so everyone came running over to see! A nice way to end our day in EPCOT. We then decide to walk over to Morrocco and found a perfect viewing spot for Illuminations. We took our time walking back to the room singing the Illuminations theme song! This was the beginning of our perfect trip!
