BBQ on the Food Channel..where is the best BBQ you've ever had?

Pappy's Riverside Restaurant in Blairsville GA. MMMMMMM...... Makes me want to sop up their BBQ sauce with their homemade cornbread!::yes::

Dreamland ribs--Tuscaloosa Alabama the original, Birmingham, Florence and Huntsville

Sprayberry's in Newnan, GA. The Sprayberry family has been doing it for years! YUMMY! The onion rings are to die for!

Black's BBQ in Lockhart, TX-barbeque capitol of the world, IMO.

We've got pretty good BBQ here in New Braunfels. Granzin's, Rudy's. If you ever come here to float the rivers or go to Schlitterbahn, be sure & eat some of our good BBQ.

Absolute Best: Corner Stable in Timonium, Maryland- they win contests all over the country- Absolute BEST BBQ RIBS in the WORLD!

Absolute Worst: Mama Browns in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina- my BF was sick for a week!! :)

coming home from Florida we like to stop at a place in New Smyrna,, Delaware called Wallies. Not much to look at but clean and run by a very nice family and they have delicious ribs. He even bottles his own sauce and has a web site for it, so we have brought the sauce home and made our ribs with it but it never quite the same. It is located on rt. 13, we pass it because we like to go home via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, gives us a break from 95. :sunny: :boat: :sunny:

I BBQ every weekend in the summer, soon as its nice out the BBQ comes out and we cook on it..but no place around here cooks food on the BBQ.

My dh has some really great BBQ. We watched the food channel all day yesterday and dh went out and bought a brisket that he just put on the grill a few minutes ago.

There is a place in McDonough,GA that has WONDERFUL bbq. It is called Obies or O.B's(forget which one). We try to stop there whenever we will be traveling through Atlanta.

Locally there is a place called Blackbeards/B&B Barbeque that has great pulled pork (as well as good fish)

The best barbque in the world is right here in quaint little Owensboro, KY! We have three INCREDIBLE Barbeque joints here, one pretty famous place called Moonlite Barbeque Inn and then my personal favorite, a small family owned place called Old Hickory. mmmmm......

In fact, Owensboro's slogan is "The Barbeque capital of the World"...every mothers day we host the International Barbeque Festival on Mothers Day Weekend....this kicks off a summer of Barbque Picnics held at each of the local catholic churchs (we're a small town with like 50 catholic churchs! :p ) These picnics are AWESOME! Some of the best food around.

So if you ever venture through Kentucky, look for Owensboro in the North Westerns part of the state....we're known for barbeque Mutton and IMHO the worlds single greatest food Burgoo (its a barbeque soup..some might call it a stew...Delicious!)

I'm hungry for Barbeque now....maybe i'll go to old hickory for lunch! :p

I have to agree with another poster... almost any BBQ restaurant in Lexington, NC! They are famous for their BBQ, and also have the bbq festivals. I'll be going to visit my DGM there this weekend, so I'm looking forward to some good ole Lexington BBQ! Can't wait!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

My favorite is Sonny's BBQ down south. Sams Club in FL sells big containers of their BBQ sauce and we get my mom to send us some every few months. MMMMMM!!! :teeth:

I always wanted to try out western KY barbecue. I've had North Carolina barbecue, South Carolina, Kansas City and Texas. Texas is my favorite 'cue, and SC is my least favorite. SC uses a mustard based sauce that just doesn't appeal to me.

But I've never had mutton or burgoo in Kentucky. Someday I hope to.

Hey Jungle Skipper, my mom's side of the family is from Lewisport, KY. I grew up eating southern Indiana bbq (Mack's was the place for ribs!!!) and southerin IL BBQ...I've lived in Texas for 23 years, and I still like southern IL and Indiana BBQ better!

Yesterday DH made boneless pork ribs on the gas grill using Alton Brown's rub recipe. That was the best!

One year I was visiting my sister in Memphis during the "Memphis in May" World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Since she worked for the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, she escorted judges during the contest and we got to eat the entries with them. I ate barbecue for about 3 straight hours (ribs, shoulders, pulled, dry rub, wet) from the top contestants around the world (most from the south) and it was one of the best eating days I've ever had. (Of course, NONE of the competing teams would give up their recipes!)

Here in Huntsville last year and I think the year before they offered a class for BarBQue judging and I wanted to take it this year but they didn't offer it. I think if would be great to take the class even if I didn't get to judge any competitions. Be on the lookout for the classes in other places.
