Hello - I've gone ahead and booked a crown package for our almost 5 year old on our upcoming cruise, but am still going back and forth on it. My main concern is the styles look so tight on their little heads that DD will want it taken down within the hour. I'm also a little worried about glitter everywhere... in her eyes, on her pillow, on her clothes... i.e. everywhere for days.

Also the only time slot I could snag is on our Nassau day, which is fine as we are staying on ship, but then I'm wondering about CC the next day and don't want her to worry about her getting her hair wet.

I think she'd get a kick out of the experience, I just don't want her to be miserable afterwards. Any thoughts or experiences welcome. :)

I would say it might depend on the hairstyle chosen, but I don't really think it will be an issue. While it looks really tight, I don't think it is so tight that it is uncomfortable. My DD (who is now 10 and can't wait to do the BBB again on the Disney Cruise next fall) was just 4 years old (it was her birthday) and she loved every single minute of it and never complained once that her head was uncomfortable or that it hurt when they were doing it. She smiled the whole way through and loved being a pampered princess. The glitter is very fine and while, yes, it is guaranteed to be spread around and in her scalp for days to come, she never complained of it getting in her eyes. I would not expect it to last more than the day. She will want to go in the pool and and swim at CC, so the day she gets it will probably be as long as you can expect to keep it, but since you get to keep all of the makeup, hair accessories, nail polish, etc., I found that it was not terribly difficult to re-create it on my own at another time.

I am not sure where you live or how accessible the BBB at WDW or DL are to you, but if this is maybe a once in a lifetime experience, I would go for it. I don't think you will regret it. My DD is doing it 3 times on our next cruise (Under the Sea Package, Castle Package and Pirate's League). pirate:princess::tink:

My daughter has done it a few times and the first time with the classic bun on the head she left it in over night but the last few times she didn't like the product in her hair so they kept spraying her hair with water to get it out and she took a bath that night to get it out. She said it itched being so tight. My daughter also had glitter on her scalp for at least a month.

I went back and forth on this too (for the same reasons). We ended up bringing our girls but we went on pirate night and they had the pirate makeover instead. It was a good option because they still got to experience the BBB, and had an awesome time for pirate night.

On our cruise two weeks go my dd5 had the bun one done and it came out first thing the next morning due to her complaining about how tight and the itching she was doing. She actually ended up allergic to the gel stuff they put to keep it tight and had a rash all around her scalp that this stuff touched and itched beyond belief. She was miserable. We washed her hair at least twice to get it to where she wasnt itchy and miserable. Plus she said it was pulling hard and she never complains about her head hurting but did this time. We wont be doing it again. The other styles maybe would be more comfortable. That glitter stuff is STILL on her scalp and she's had multiple hair washes over the past two weeks. lol
