My 4 yr old wants to ride the chair lift... I am nervous... Is it safe? Does it have safety belts, etc... Or should I start talking him out of it now?

The ski lift that takes you to the top of mountain (cannot remember the name) at Blizzard Beach.

The Blizzard Beach Ski Lift takes you to the top of Mount Gushmore where there are some fun slides and such.I'm pretty sure that there is a bar that comes down but when you get to the top you have to jump off so that you don't get carried back down LOL.

Your legs do dangle in the air. It is a very steep lift and I wouldn't if they are afraid of heights.

When you have to jump off how far is the jump? My 7 year old niece wants to ride, but I didn't know that she would have to jump off once she got to the top.

It is just like a ski lift at a ski resort and little kids do those all the time. The line gets very long very fast though so don't count on using it to save steps very often. I thought there was a height restriction on it but don't remember. I'm sure a 7 year old wouldn't have any problem.

I took my DD on the lift a few years ago when she was 3. I didn't think anything of it when I got on with her, as I had been on it several times before she was born, but once we got up there, I became really nervous and didn't feel she was that safe.

There are no safety belts or straps for smaller children - the only security is the lap bar that lowers down. As I was much bigger than my DD, the bar stopped as soon as it hit my legs, but left a big gap between my DD and the bar. She could have easily slipped through it. I held on to her for dear life and prayed the whole time until we got off; I swore I wouldn't take her on it again until she was much bigger. I was lucky she didn't wriggle around at all.

However, my DD was fine on it and thought it was a lot of fun! Little did she know I was about to have a heart attack :guilty: When we got off the chair, I just grabbed her up quick in my arms and jumped off- she couldn't have made the jump off herself. Also, I think I remember seeing the lift being stopped for people that have difficulty getting off, so that may be an option.

That's just my experience and other people may feel differently, but I'll never forget how scared I was up there with her and kept wishing I hadn't taken her on it. Didn't mean to scare you but I hope this helps!

Thanks that helps a lot I think I will talk him into waiting a couple more years.
