Bay Lake Tower to Grand Floridian - how long of a walk?

We’re about to have a 5 night stay at Bay Lake Tower starting this Friday. Our first time at Bay Lake, and our welcome home stay (we own at SSR)! Does anyone know about how long of a walk it is from BLT to the VGF? I’m thinking we might want to partake in some of the restaurants or gift shops at VGF while we’re there. Thanks!

Never mind, I looked at the map, and am answering my own question. Looks like a monorail ride will be in order!

I don’t think there’s a walk way between BLT and VGF. There’s a walk way between VGF and Poly but it was closed earlier this month.

You can walk there, but just have to go past MK. However, it’s only going to work during MK operating hours. We have done it and while long, it was a nice way to get some walking in when we were on a non park day!

Yes. You have to walk through MK enter through the checkpoint and then exit the opposite side to BLT, then reverse it for your walk back, or take the monorail one way. We have done the walk- its not bad

When we stay at VGF, we often walk to the Contemporary Resort for breakfast at Steakhouse 71. It's not a bad walk, but I wouldn't do it in the heat of the day or if we're in a hurry. Don't remember how long it takes, but we allow an hour and arrive at the Contemporary with plenty of time to spare.

This reminds me, and I don't want to offend anybody who may smoke. But, we saw a sign outside of the MK entrance a couple of weeks ago that the smoking area was moved to the Grand Floridian walkway.

While I appreciate that it is no longer close to the park entrance, who made this decision? Why would you put the smoking section where you have no choice (if you want to walk) but to pass it going to and from your "flagship" resort.

It's like having it where you have to walk past it going into Epcot from the International Gateway.

I am a walker and do the walk every time we stay at GFVs. As CarolMN stated I wouldn't do the walk if you are in a hurry and I would give myself 45-60 minutes but it can be done in shorter time.
I LOVE the walk back/forth.

The walkway from the poly to the GF is closed today. And the walkway from GF to the MK is closed. Very disappointing for us when we were trying to take a walk this afternoon.

Edit to add that the walkway from GF to MK was open tonight. Just closed this afternoon.
