Is there a hotplate or oven type thing or just a microwave? Also Do I need to bring cupds, spoons etc and finally how big is the fridge? Thanks in advance to whomever answers!

Doesn't sound like much of a 'kitchen', more like a 'college Dorm type' kitchen - and those weren't much good except for Ramen noodles and beer pong...

Btw, we are staying for 3 weeks, so I guess we'll be running out of plastic utensils, yes? Do they restock em?

Anybody know if there any other DVC properties that offer a full kitchen (like a stove where you can really cook?)

A studio only has a kitchenette, as stated. All 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom, Grand Villas, have full kitchens

AHHH! THANKS Aurora! So THATS why the 1 bedroom is so much more in demand than the studio; I thought it was just a size thing. So you mean ALL DVC properties that are 1 bdroom or more have full kitchens? Sounds great but I think it's a big step up in price, isn't it?

Pluto lover thanks also, by the way, maybe I should look for a cheaper 1 Bdroom in a different DVC property so I can afford the kitchen?

Yes. All DVC studios have only a kitchenette. All larger units - 1BR, 2BR, Grand Villa and Treehouse - have full kitchens and in-unit W/D.

1BRs are actually the least in demand of DVC units, as they are a big cost step up from studios but sleep the same number. However, you have to understand that the BLT studio is the smallest at DVC.

The facilities at the DVC villas are awesome! Having the full kitchen means nice options for breakfasts/snacks at your fingertips. We have never actually "cooked" in the villa but you certainly could. We have done quite a bit of "warming up" various items. The full size fridge also means you can doggie bag your restaurant leftovers if you're so inclined. With the washer & dryer you can pack very light in favor of wear/wash/wear again. There are folks that say they refuse to cook and do laundry on vacation, but there are big up sides for the very minor inconvenience.

Thx. Anyone know if there is a clothes washer/dryer for the Bay Lake (or any other DVC) studios? (i/e are the clothes washers IN the apartments or in a central area)?

There is a laundry room available. The W/D is not in the (already small) unit.

thx again A! Its a question of being crammed in with the fam or a 2 bdroom but with the INLAWS :sad2:

The difference between a studio and a 2BR is pretty immense.

A dedicated 2BR has a bedroom with 2 queen beds, a bedroom with a king, and a double and a single sleeper in the living room, plus a kitchen and a W/D. It's 1150 square feet.

A studio has a queen and a double sleeper. When the double is folded out you have very little room to walk around. A studio is 339 square feet.

Only you can decide if switching resorts is worth gaining a kitchen and a washer/dryer. Would you make frequent use of these amenities, if you had them?

When we stay in a studio we pretty much bring snacks, breaskfast, and use the microwave to heat leftovers.

We found that the BLT studios were the smallest on property. As others have said, if you want a real kitchen you'll need a 1 bedroom unit or higher. You're responsible for restocking utensils and such as they only clean every 4 days. Laundry rooms are available on each floor or every other floor, I can't recall. I did use them on a trip there as we had babies at the time and needed to wash clothes. If you want a W/D in unit then you'll have to go 1 bedroom or higher. Personally, when we've done 2+ week trips we stayed in 1 bedroom units. Having the full kitchen an in room W/D was worth it to us, as was the extra space.

I do not know if you're staying on points or not, but another option for more space and full kitchen (but no in room W/D) are the cabins at Ft. Wilderness. Not a DVC property but nice and spacious.

I get the no inlaws thing. Yes, there would be more space, but no way to completely escape. Look up a tour of the studio on youtube--it really is very small. I would feel very cramped in there even with just one other person, especially for 3 weeks.

At some DVC resorts the washers and dryers are at the quiet pools. These are complimentary. You don't pay to do your laundry.
