In what I am certain is a first on this board (and maybe anywhere on the DIS) this Friday will mark a decisive battle between two talented DIS DD goaltenders - mine and canucktyke's. :cheer2: Both teams (London and Markham-Stouffville) have qualified for this year's OWHA provincial championships at the Bantam AA level, and the two teams play each other Friday at 12:15 at the Hershey Centre. It appears, however, they won't be playing head-to-head based on both teams' goalie rotation.

If the girls can't settle things on the ice, I'm prepared to take the battle into the stands. I have the size advantage on Peter but if he's as wiry as I expect I'll never be able to lay a hand on him. We may have to resort to more civilized means to declare a winner. :drinking1

I suggest Buzz Lightyear space ranger guns at 20 paces.

Any other Disr's have daughters that are hitting the provincial ice this weekend?

Man- one hour earlier and I could have witnessed the duel but we are playing at 12:30 at Ice gardens. I will keep an eye on the scoreboards to see how everyone is making out. We are in the Midget A group and I am pretty confident that we will be playing 3 games then heading home :confused3

Good luck!

Make it 10. You can't hit anything with those guns at 20 paces. ;)

No daughters here, but our son is a Bantam aged goalie. Man, I HATE being a goalie dad. It just kills me. And I'm the coach. Funny at how relaxed I can be when it's the other guy's turn in between the pipes.

Here's hoping it's a great game.

Good luck to everyone involved in the upcoming tournaments! I think the girls going head-to-head would be kind of fun! But not as fun as the Dad's ... :rotfl2:

How did everyone make out?

Our team did just as I predicted- 3 games and home we came. I did check the score sheets and saw the Markham did beat London by a wee bit. Must have been a good game.

On the topic of goalies ours was amazing this weekend-unfortunately with not much help from the forwards there wasn't much more she could do.

After losing our first game to Markham and tying Guelph in the second (poor efforts in both instances) the girls rebounded with a round robin win against Cornwall, and overtime playoff wins against Willowdale and Brampton before bowing to Durham West 2-1 in the gold medal game. Gold would have been nice, but silver is an excellent way to finish off the season.

At least we have a week off before tryouts for next season's teams start on the 25th.

Sherry, that St. Thomas team you tied in your last game (it was also the only point they earned in the tournament, as well) contained two older siblings of girls on our Bantam team. Small world....

Silver is great. I would have been happy with a 4th game :confused3

Mike- St Thomas scored with about 12 seconds left. I felt so bad for our goalie- it just sort of trickled over her shoulder.

Our team had no depth this season. Good gaolie, good defencemen, but unfortunately only 2 good forwards. We are looking forward to next year.
