Gave up one of the coveted King Suites at HRH last week for a stay at WDW Yacht Club (lured by "free" dining, of course). EPCOT is our favorite Disney park, so we able to use the foot path there and the boat transportation for DHS. My thoughts on how this experience stacks up against the Universal resort boat service:
So overall, Universal wins the battle of the boats in my opinion. We'll certainly stay at the Yacht Club again, but we'll never get on that boat to DHS. Now I just need to figure out how to make time for another MCO run to get over to Universal!!
- Our room at the YC was very close to the boat dock, but we never used it from that point since EPCOT is such a short walk and we also opted to walk over to DHS (about a 25 min leisurely pace).
- Our one and only Disney boat trip was from DHS back to YC. Now, I'm not that fleet of foot but I bet we could have walked faster than that boat. It was also way too crowded (right after Fantasmic), and since it was still hot it was stifling on board due to the windows. All in all, not an enjoyable ride.
- I've always considered the Universal boat service a central part of staying on site at either HRH or PBH. Sure, it's an easy walk to/from HRH, but the boat ride is very relaxing and builds your anticipation on the approach to CityWalk. The boat itself is also nicer and faster than the EPCOT resort boat.
