I was at my friends house the other day, and we were heading off shopping. She was getting together, some items for their up coming camping trip. I noticed this slow cooker, crock pot style thing. I asked her what it was, she said its battery operated crock pot. What...... I never have seen anything like it. She said she got it from her grandmother and has had it for years. She said they use it all the time when camping and a few times during hurricane season. She said it really doesn't cook but will keep stuff hot for hours. The name brand was worn off. She thought it was a West Bend.

Anyone have any idea where I can get one. I would like to add something like this to my hurricane stuff or when I need to bring a dish some where, and I won't have to worry about plugging in.

Thanks in advance

I know that I have seen some on Amazon that run by plugging into the car outlet to keep the food hot. Here's one: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/12-volt-slow-cooker-1-5-quart/56988

Just get an inverter From radio shack for your car. A crock pot will eat through batteries in no time

I have a question about inverters... do they make different wattages? I have one that we use for small stuff like chargers, but my electric teakettle can't be used with it,DH says it'll blow a fuse

OP here,

I want something that I don't have to depend on the car to run. I wish now I would have taken a picture of it. Its square maybe 12 x 12 or so, but deep like a crock pot, with a glass lid, on the side it had this square box, that you put the batteries in. She said it takes D batteries. I don't know how many batteries it holds. Has anyone seen anything like this?
