Bathrobe and slippers

They're too bulky and awkward and hot for me. I sleep in a t-shirt or sweatshirt and sleep pants. I don't really feel the need of anything to cover it up.

No slippers for me, either. I wear socks or go barefoot. Slippers feel too much like shoes to me and we never wear shoes in the house.

Gotcha, I only wear my robe of a morning, till I shower and only of an evening if I don't get into bed right away after gettimg my PJ's on - which is very rarely.

Our carpet is a bit worse for wear, which I hate walking on in bare feet, we don't see the point of replacing the carpet, as we have a wood fire and don't want to spend a fortune on carpet only to ruin it with the soot/dust from the fire....so shoes on at all times...lol

Yep, I wear slippers all the time. I wear my robe a lot during the winter. It's nice to have even if I don't use it all the time.

I wear slippers in the fall and winter, but prefer to go barefoot in the spring and summer. I have a robe but only wear it if the temps get really cold.

Not who you were asking but definitely don't wear shoes around the house. We take them off by the door as soon as we get home. Not a flooring issue, just a comfort issue.

I wear my shoes until I am getting ready to go to sleep for the night. I hate bathrobes and don't wear slippers.

I use a terry cloth robe every day when I get out of the shower. No slippers and no other kind of robe. I stay dressed until I go to bed and I don't leave my room in the morning until I am showered and dressed except to wake the kids on school days. Not one for lounging around the house in my pjs etc. Dh is the same way.

Oh how I love my lazy days (about 3-4 times in a month)

I schedule no activities, no cleaning and just lay around in pj or just my robe as long as possible.

I'm having a lazy day and I actually am wearing my robe right now lol...My mom got me the new Victoria's Secret Sweater Robe...Oh my word - it is the most comfy thing I own. So comfy that I got one for my dd as well for Christmas.

barefoot from March-November, socks the rest of the time.
Have a robe, but never wear it.

Love wearing my robe and slippers in the am. Wear them every morning.

You don't???

Just curious, I've never heard of that. Do you change into clean in-the-house-only shoes to keep the floor clean, or wear the same ones inside and out?

Possibly it's a climate thing though, I could see that if it's not a huge change in weather all the time...

I wear a bathrobe and slippers pretty much every day when I wake up.

And I tend to wear my slippers around the house instead of socks in the winter.

I have a bathrobe, but I only wear it from the bed to the shower(across the hall) in the morning. I don't get dressed in the bathroom after I shower, so sometimes I wear the robe back, sometimes I just wrap a towel around me. On weekends, when I don't shower immeditely in the morning, I throw on some pj pants and a tshirt/sweatshirt to run around the house in.

Nobody in my house owns slippers. Some of us wear shoes in the house, some don't.

When I saw your first post I guessed you were Canadian before I even looked at your location. :lmao: that is such a typical question for a Canadian to ask if they haven't visited in Americans homes. I asked the same thing when we first moved to the States.

PS: we lived in California for 3 years and all of our American friends thought we were a little odd because we always took our shoes off at the front door. But they don't have to contend with the snow or mud that we do.

Trivia of the day: Did you know that the German word for slipper literally translates as "house shoe"? True fact. :teacher:

Robe occasionally, like if somebody comes to the door before we get up. I have slippers in the garage where we spend our evenings. Wear them until it warms up.

I'm not a slippers or robe kinda gal.

In my mind (& this is just me & has no bearing on actual reality! ;) ), robes & slippers are for older/elderly people.

I have a lightweight robe that my mom gave me that I used in the hospital when I gave birth to our younger son. I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn it here at home though.

My mom loves robes & nightgowns & slippers. In the evenings, she's usually wearing her gown w/ a robe & thick socks & slippers. In the mornings, when she gets up, she puts her robe back on over her gown until she gets dressed. She's given me a few pairs of slippers over the years as well. I have one pair that I keep in the bottom of my closet "just in case"...

I also don't like nightgowns & prefer PJs.

I usually sleep in a tank top. If it's really cold, I might also sleep in some long PJ pants.

Our master bathroom is connected to our bedroom, so I don't have to worry about taking a shower & not having a robe to walk back to our bedroom. A towel works just fine!

In the winter, I like fuzzy, thick socks for my feet. In the summer, I'm barefoot!

I can't stand wearing shoes in the house - even slippers!

I do love my loungewear though - Around the house, in the winter, I'm normally wearing either yoga pants or PJ pants w/ a sports bra & a long-sleeved t-shirt. In the summer, I wear comfy shorts w/ a sports bra & a tank top.

EDITED TO ADD - For the poster who said the German word for "slippers" translates to "house shoes" - Growing up, both my grandmother (my mom's mom) & my mom always referred to slippers (& mom still does actually) as "house shoes"! I probably refer to them that way as well since that's the way I grew up.

I have to remember what to do according to where I am. In Fla I wear shoes in the house until I'm ready for bed. Porcelain floors and shoes don't get dirty in Fla., I guess. In Canada the people look at you funny if you don't take your shoes off, I prefer to keep my shoes on. As an aside it looks terrible to see a big pile of shoes sitting inside the front door. At least put them away.

Maybe it is regional. We are in upstate NY and I would never wear my shoes in someone's house. I would imagine any place I have been the bottom of my shoes would be dirty, and we do deal with snow and sludge 7 months of the year. I would be horrified if I crossed my legs and they brushed up on the side of the sofa, or I tracked something on their carpet. I hate it if my kids run through the house when they are playing outside just to get a drink. There is always a path of where they have been. It is tile, and made for that, but it still looks terrible. We have a carpet right inside the door, but there is often a dark circle around it from shoes. If we are leaving the house and forgot something upstairs the shoes come off and we run back up. Just habit as it has always been that way. We don't think twice about it.

Everyone we interact with (except my in-laws) take their shoes off at the door. I have even had girlfriends bring their slippers. We have designated places for the shoes, but sometimes they are in a heap. Oh well. At least we have clean floors and furniture I guess.
