Several people have posted,"wear your bathing suit and do all the water rides". Do you really get wet enough to make it necessary to wear a bathing suit? I don't mind if shorts and a top get a bit wet. We'll be there the week of July 4 so I know it will feel good to be wet!

You can get absolutely DRENCHED on Bilge Rat Barges. And you're right: being wet on a hot July day will feel just great. You'll see plenty of other folks walking around dripping wet, so you needn't feel weird.

So the question you have to ask yourself is "How will I feel if I'm soaking wet?"

One way to handle the wet rides is to "under dress" with a bathing suit, then rent a locker, strip off the outer layers and do all the wet rides in order. When you're done, you can retrieve your stuff, go to a restroom and take off the wet bathing suit and stuff it in a plastic bag you've brought along. I've done this and it works, but I think that as long as you aren't carrying along anything that you don't want to get sopping wet it's just as easy to drip dry as you walk around the park.

On a scale of 0-10, with 0 being not wet at all and 10 being drenched, the wetness factor of the water rides are:

  • Boat cruise across the lake: 10
  • Jurassic River Ride: 3
  • Log flume ride: 7
  • Bilge Rat Barges: 11 :)

Jurassic River Ride splashes. In the log flume, you get spray and then sometimes water comes over the top. My friend got drenched on the top, but her shorts were dry.

The bilge rat barges can soak you. Huge waves of water come over the side, and those can get your lower half. Plus, they go under waterfalls at 2-3 points, and if you're caught under the waterfall... well, you're drenched. There is, however, a spot at the center of the boat that remains dry, where you can put your shoes and socks, and anything else that needs to keep dry.

Incidentally, though you look silly, a rain poncho will keep you pretty dry. You can bring your own for cheap, or buy yellow ones there for six bucks. I bought one there. It kept me high and dry on the log flume, and would have kept me dry on the barges except for the fact that it was open a little on the side, and a big wave got half of my shorts wet.

When we were at IOA last year you had to keep your shoes on or they wouldn't let you ride the water rides. So it was a good idea to have sandals and no socks or at least bring along a pair of flip flops for these rides.

I guess that depends of your definition of "a bit wet"
In my opinion, Jurassic Park got me "a bit wet".
Dudley Dooright's got me "pretty wet", Popeye's got me "soaked"! I'm talking head to toe! I wore my bathing suit with lightweight shorts and was glad I did! Whatever you decide, you will dry quickly in the Florida sun. :)

Ripsaw Falls...OH my
This is an intense intense splash mountain. U GET 20x times wetter than splash mountain... It is faster and you will get drenched. u o dry quickly if there s sun.!

Thank you one and all. Bathing suit and shorts sounds like a good idea.

I just came back from USF/IOA on Saturday(If you were there, my chorus performed at Hard Rock Live and we came out 1st place), and I went on all of those rides with shorts and a t-shirt, and even though I was drenched, I came out dry even though it was only in the high 70s. Also, if you do those then hit a roller coaster, youll dry quick.

I assume the boat cruise across the lake is the Island Skipper Tours. I've never been drenched as a 10. I would say it is a 0!
