First message, I've been reading the comments for weeks, my first ever trip to Disney is March 04, the site has been really useful so thanks to everyone who has contibuted.

I am travelling with Travel City Direct, and staying at Bass Lakes in the Kissemee area. Has anyone stayed in this area before?

Thanks

David

Yes, welcome David. This is definitely the best place to get info.
I wonder if Bass Lakes is the same as Bass Rd. If it is, we stayed there a few years ago. It was brilliantly located, only 1 minute to a super Walmart, and very quick to DTD etc.

I thought I was going mad then Malcolm, but there's so many developments I didn't argue! It's an easy mistake.
I've checked the link Tracey very kindly put up, and we did stay just over the road from Bass Lakes a few years ago. It's the best located villa we've ever had. Its proximity to Walmart was very useful, and we found getting anywhere, including Universal, was no problem either. Far better IMHO than hwy27 developments, or even villas found further West on 192.

Me and Grumpy John (not really) stayed at Bass Lake a year or so back. If you are staying at the same one it is just off the US27 about 1 mile from the 192 junction.

Its got a security gate entrance and you can use the jetty on the Lake. They also have a community swimming pool and clubhouse, although we did not use these as we had our own pool backing on to orange groves in Catfish Drive (didn't see any though).

Really quite and relaxing place to be. About a 20 minute drive to Disney either via 192 (gets really busy) or I4 which is south from Bass Lake. Publix supermarket is on the end of 192 or there is a Walmart further down US27 about 30-45 minutes drive away.

Hope all goes well.

Ian,

No you weren't going mad. I replied, then thought I'd better check my facts.

Actually Bass Lakes is the "mature" development on US27 near Polo Parks, Esprit, Davenport Lakes and Lake Davenport Estates. Just down from 192.

Bass Lakes Estates is off the 192. Its down Bass Road which runs down the side of WalMart, past Creekside, which was the location of the first villa we stayed in.

So I think David had better check his exact location out with TCD.

Isn't it all so confusing with the names?

Thanks everyone, great to get my first lot of replies!! Sure I will have loads more before we travel next year.:D

PS: what do all the abreviations mean lol
