Has anyone done this recently, I have read several conflicting threads about how many people are allowed on the boat. My DS7 wants to go and of course my DH or I will have to go with him. In a perfect world, I would prefer the whole family to go (all four of us), but I have read that only one person can fish, the fisherman and the guide at CSR. But the sign says up to five guests. Does anybody know? Thanks!

Of course I could go to another resort, but at 7:00am, I would prefer to stay right at the one we are staying at.

I have done the one at CSR back in 06 and it wasn't all that good. Basically he doesn't even start the motor. You just troll around in a small lake. The guide said the one at the wilderness lodge was better.

I can ask for you on Sunday when I arrive.

Thank you and thank you for taking the time to create your wonderful site! It is wonderful and it helped me sway my DH into trying this resort! He wants to stay at the Poly, but I want to save $2200.00!!!

1) It is far better on Bay Lake / Seven Seas Lagoon.
2) These leave from WL, GF, Poly, CR.
3) Even at 7:00am, if you are buying it, get the best results.

We stayed at the wl and went out twice. The price was $250 for a maximum of 5 people. The guide supplies all the gear and the live bait (shiners) for a two hour trip. Both guides were terrific and the bass fishing was incredible. Even the first trip with temps around 43* we had great success including a 28" 5lb 8 ounce lunker. The guide was completely surprised we did so well with the temps so low. The next cast I caught one slightly smaller. I'm from PA and any of the bass we caught were bigger than anything up my way. The guides were great and we all had a wonderful time. Couple days later we went again and bass from 1 lb to 3 1/2 lbs were plentiful. My 9 year old caught a 3 1/2 lb bass as well as 4 or 5 others. We probably caught 20 fish per trip and lost at least as many during that time. An absolute blast. David was our first guide and Robert was our second. Both guys were top notch. We didn't start out trophy fishing just hoping to catch some fish. Our expectations were greatly exceeded.

my son and husband have done the one at CSR and one out of the POLY - they like the one out of the POLY much better. They said they caught more fish... they had 5 of them on the boat (my DD's boyfriend, his dad and brother) where as at CSR it was just the 2 of them... they have done the fishing out of the POLY a couple of times.... overall my DH says it is a much better experience..

what lake is POR Marina on?
Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon,
Village Lake, or
Crescent Lake and World Showcase Lagoon?

I just booked last week.

I was originally going to book from DTD, but I asked the guy which place is the best, since we are staying at POP and have to travel to wherever we fish from, and his immediate answer was the Contemporary. That's where we are booked.

It is 5 people on the boat, and they even said no problem to my 3 yr old going.

. . . what lake is POR Marina on? . . .

1) Sassagula River.
2) Not on a lake, but leads to Downtown Disney.
3) Usually does not have the best fishing.
4) I find that the best fishing is on Bay Lake / Seven Seas Lagoon.

We have done the family one from the Polynesian. We had 5 and my dh gave our guide a great tip because she kept taking my fish off the hook. Guess who caught the most fish between the 3 ds, dh and the mom, well me of course, the mom!! We caught the most bass by the old discovery island, That is about as far out as we went. It was great fishing around with the castle in the background etc. Its better to go earlier, even though its more money. I think we took the 2nd time slot. Just couldnt get up that early on vacation. Any later and there is just too much boat traffic on Bay Lake. Our guide fished in a lake where my cousin lives so we talked alot. Our ds have done the kids fishing trip from the boardwalk area I think. They actually picked them up at the yacht club I think. No parents, just kids, Its well supervised. They keep them close to shore, make them wear life vests, use hot dogs for bait and throw in a drink for the kids. Our ds loved it and dh and I got to have a little peace and quiet. I think instead of bass there were catching mostly sunfish as we call them there.

Rusty - you were right about Bay Lake. :thumbsup2 We booked an excursion there for 4 May 2008 and caught a bunch of large mouth bass on a pontoon boat launched from Wilderness Lodge! There were 5 + the captain on the boat. We had a 20% off coupon from Birnbaum's book which brought the price down from $250 to $200 which we put on our room bill. We took the 7am time slot which meant we had to be at the dock by 6:45am but it was worth it b'c we still had lots of time to go in the parks and lots of good fishing!

thanks for the advice! :worship: We did take a boat trip from POR to DTD and understood better what you meant re fishing on the river - it really wasn't that wide and there was a lot of boat traffic and I don't think they'd like you fishing around the bridge area b'c of the traffic so I doubt it could have been anywhere near as good as Bay Lake!

THANKS SO MUCH! :cool1:
