I plan on surprising my Minnie Mouse and having a WDW wedding.:lovestruc
This wedding will be a simple but loving one with just the two of us.:hug:We will not be having a reception because we both feel just the atmosphere of Disney and sharing it with our fellow Disney lovers will be a reception itself! The questions I have are what do we need(license etc.) where to get that (at home before we come or there?:confused3) Who to call and what would be the best location for just the two of us? Im sorry i checked for a thread with this info but couldnt find one. Like i said a simple and causal ceremony that will be filled with tons of love!:3dglasses

If you are wanting to do a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding, the smallest one is the escape package. There s a recent thread with the 2010 pricing that has recently been announced. A less expensive option might be a Disney Cruise Line wedding or a Swan/Dolphin Wedding. This thread will give you all the information you never knew you needed !! :lmao: Look in on a couple of threads, and just start posting your questions. There are plenty of past and planning couples to help you out !

Welcome and congratulations !

Well it sounds like you want an escape wedding...however there is a limit to the number of people (20-25 I believe, including you and your minnie) But if you're planning a family trip, chances are you're not going to have more than that anyway.

With the escape you get a limited number of ceremony locations, a cake, one bottle of champagne or two bottles of sparkling cider, a bouquet and boutonniere, a violinist, a limousine, photography, two Walt Disney World Annual Passes, and a basic event web site For $1000 more you get the Wedding Pavillion.

You also need to have 4 room nights at a disney hotel or DVC.

I'd check out disneyweddings.com or buy Carrie's ebook from passporter. It's very informative!

Sounds like an Escape package is definately what you want. Even though these are small they are still somewhat pricey ($4750) but I think she will love it! I would recommend Sunset Pointe (I may be partial though bc that's where we're planning ours). It's at the Polynesian resort and it is the only site that overlooks the castle (other than the WP but that is more expensive yet). The main downfall of Sunset Pointe is that you can only have 8 people... but it sounds like it's just the 2 of you so that shouldn't be an issue.

You can check out all the details of the package at www.disneyweddings.go.com The only thing you will really need that isn't included in the package is an officiant (Disney can recommend one but they don't provide one). You do have to get the license ahead of time... I haven't gotten that far in my planning yet but will search for a thread for you on how to do this... I think you can do it through the mail ahead of time or at any court house in FL in person... I don't believe there is a waiting period.

When are you planning on having your wedding? Is she going to know about it at all or are you going to surprise her during an already planned trip? I've never heard of a surprise Disney wedding before where the bride isn't in the loop... this could be fun! Let us know some details on what you're thinking and we can help you from there.

Thanks everyone for the info and links!:goodvibes I just really cant find what we want.:worship: We just wanted to do our vows, just the two of us in a wonderful Disney location and then go and have a wonderful dinner at Epcot and then watch the fireworks in Magic kingdom while lying on a blanket together. I know, sounds corny...but its our dream popcorn:: Please no teasing...ha ha Everything seems just too elaborate when we just want something simple. Well if anyone else could give me info please post. Thank you friends! :grouphug:

Disney has a pretty big monopoly on all things wedding that happen on Disney property... I hear they actually watch for any potential weddings and escort you off property if they catch an unofficial wedding. I believe there was one bride who did a vow renewal on the balcony of their room... I think it was at the Animal Kingdom Lodge- can anyone confirm that or know who it was? That may work for you... they can't control what you do in your room:confused3 I don't think it's corny at all... sounds romantic and blissfully simple to me:lovestruc. Good Luck and let us know what you decide on!

As others have said if you want it to be officially disney - you are stuck with the escape package. If you don't want all of the elements then I would just skip them and take what you do want.

Right after the ceremony they give you a cake and champagne toast. If you don't want it then you could always have it delivered to your room for later.

I think the best spot for you would be Sunset Point at the Polynesian. The location is very intimate (has a 10 person max). Its right next to the beach and has the castle in the background. I am not sure what the timing restricitions are but it may be possible to say I do just as the fireworks start. Or if you did it earlier you could lie in a hammock on the beach and watch the fireworks which would be very romantic.

What does Minnie Mouse want?

I agree with the other brides that Disney is protective of weddings on property. While you might be able to 'sneak' something going in your room, keep in mind you may have a hard time getting vendors (photographers and officiants particularly) to bypass Disney. Most of them try to maintain a good relationship with Disney.

Sunset Pointe is a lovely location but there are several restrictions...in addition to a very strict guest limit, I believe there are also seasonal limitations (it is not available from March through October). Wilderness Lodge also has a strict guest limit and may provide even more of the 'intimacy' you are hoping for!

hello friends! today i called a Disney wedding planner who was extremely helpful! ;) As most of you have said the escape package would be the most intimate one that is offered. Minnie and I just think that is too much for the low key ceremony we want.:rotfl2: Yes, everyone, i had to inform her of my plans so no more surprise:confused3 As the disney planner and most of you have told me to do, i called the Swan and Dolphin and they are sending me info. But it sounds more and more that i will try to think of something different, maybe getting married at home before our trip. Thanks again :wizard: And i will still accept any off-site suggestions if anyone has any. And also I found out Disney waved my ROFR today so we will DVC members very shortly, so that softened the blow of me having to tell her of my attempted surprise:laughing: She and I are extremely excited!:rolleyes1
