basic / simple/ old-fashion kids gifts... what are they?

Did anyone ever get or have a large chalk board?
I don't even know if they sell them anymore. I know there is chalboard paint.

One year for Chrismas I got a large double sided chalk board that stood taller than me with wheels on the end-stands. I played "teacher" for years with it
If I remember correctly one side was magnetic........that was long before white dry erase baords were in (or even invented ;))

I think my girls would love one. I know some of their school friends have an area in their garages where its been painted with chalkboard paint.

I work at a daycare and the kids love The Magic 8 Ball. They are constantly sitting around asking it all sorts of questions. No batteries required.

I'm giving my niece and nephew Broomstick Horses.
Along with cowboy hats and bandanas.

I loved my playskool desk which had magnetic letter and a chalk board. I still love candyland ( I have a computer version- lost puter to nieces and nephews). WE always had building blocks, legos, dress up trunk, an erector set. Big wheels, bikes, rollar skates. Paper and crayrons. Any of the lil people toys, I got my now 17 yo nephew a plane, not sure who had more fun. The barn was given to youngest nephew along with some farm animals, he still plays w it.

My oldest daughter had this (16) and I still have it saved! I thought it would be a cool thing to have for the grandchildren someday. I have a two bins of american girl stuff, four bins of Lego, and three of Thomas! All of those our just timeless and I think one day they will be appreciated again!
