Are there such things anymore? Yes, I know most people these days take pictures on their phones. I am honestly just wanting a basic, easy to use point and shoot. For many years I had the Canon A550 that worked wonderfully until I dropped it. :( I then tried the A1400 and think the ones I got (store tech department said this, too) may have been defective. It was always "charging the flash," "busy," and not consistent in picture quality. I will be going to DL in a couple weeks and would enjoy being able to take some photos to share with family and friends of Christmas decorations, possibly a night time Candlelight shot or two and inside IASMW. I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you so much. :)

I am definitely no camera expert. I bought a new camera prior to our recent trip to DL which is a Panasonic Lumix FZ70 (it may have a different model no. in the US) which has a 60X zoom. It has automatic point and shoot as well as scene types that you can choose from e.g. night portrait, starry sky, sports etc. You can adjust settings manually (I didn't not that experienced). I have previously had very basic point and shoot cameras but really wanted to be able to capture the best pics I could as this was most likely my only chance to bring my kids to DL :( I am very happy with our photos and even a friend who is into photography said I got some great shots with the camera.

Amazon has a Sony WX80 that is a nice basic camera. For something special a SONY RX100 (should be in the $300-$350 range)

We have a panasonic lx7 as a back up to our dslr. The zoom is not long but we love the camera for sharpness. We got it on bandhphoto.com for about $100 off last year.

I have a small samung one that I LOVE. I found it on black friday last year for really cheap.

It is FABULOUS!!
My fave features are the zoom, HD video, clear pictures and has wifi so I can post photos directly from the camera to my phone. I could use the camera to even upload to facebook or to email pics but I often send them to my phone and post from there. It is just so awesome.

People always laugh that I prefer to use my digital camera instead of my phone but its true... The camera has WAY more memory (i have a 32 gig memory card in it) and it takes way sharper pictures.

I have a really nice camera growing dust because I hate lugging it around and this is so feather weight and takes amazing pics so I use it all the time!!

Thank you, all of you, for the replies. I will look up those cameras. I am keeping an eye out for Black Friday. I probably should have included that I don't have a lot of $'s to spend. I was hoping to find a deal. I have a very old fashioned phone, and wouldn't be using it for photos. I am used to putting the memory card into a reader and plugging that into my computer and viewing/ordering from there. Simpler the better but I would love to be investing longer term, too. Hope all of you have a bright and blessed Saturday :)

I wanted an inexpensive, small point and shoot and I found one a few years ago that Nikon made. I don't have the model number handy or even know if they still make it anymore, but I've been pretty pleased with it. It was right at $100 and it can fit in my pocket.

Hi Lizzy, I'm glad to hear your positive Nikon experience. I've only ever had Canons and my dad had a Kodak once. I have seen the Nikon S3600 I believe under $100. I like both the blue and magenta colors it comes in. Anyone on here have one? :)

I don't have a Nikon P/S, but I was at Costco yesterday and they have the Nikon S6800 on sale for around $120. It has a 12x zoom. I don't know about the reviews, but that seems like a good price for quite a bit of zoom.

You picked a great time of year to get a camera. I'm hoping to see a big price drop on the Canon Powershot that I have my eye on.

I have a Nikon Coolpix S8200. I am a basic user of a camera. Point and shoot is just about all I do. This is very easy to use and compact, I don't like carrying around a big/bulky camera. I've been very happy with it.

The Sony WX80 at 150 is already almost on sale. It is a pretty amazing camera for the price. I was able to get a white one once for 120 but I no longer see that deal. I would recommend Panasonic or SONY as first picks then Canon, I love Nikons high end cameras but their P&S would not make it in my top choices...

You can try greentoe.com to name your price on a camera. You could try the WX80 for $90 and see what they say....

other sites. dealsrunner.com and bensbargains.net

I have a canon waterproof camera that I love! It's great for vacations bc I don't have to worry about dropping it (as it's made for outdoor activities). I can take it to the beach, in the pool, snow, or where ever. I got it on amazon for $240 although there's a new version now so I bet you could shop around and find the previous model a lot cheaper. It's photos are almost as good as my t3i (dslr)
