Here's a few from one of our more recent games. My son's face just kills me when he swings ( he calls it his "grunt" face!:rotfl2: ) And when he plays catcher, I love the concentration - just wish he'd do that at school!!!:confused3

Great pictures, Kyle. That one with the moon is amazing.

I know you are from MA, and I wondered if you have ever been to see the Portland Seadogs? We are going in a couple of weeks, and I heard it is a pretty fun stadium. They let the kids run the bases after some of the games.

Thanks for the nice comment.

I haven't made my way up to Portland yet. I'd like to though. One of these days I'll get up there. I'd also like to photograph Portland Head Light. We have a nice picture of it in our living room, but I'd like to try and get my own shot some time.

Sorry, no pics here but just a little story.

Tonight I was photographing the team that I am the photographer for this summer. Seemed like a normal night, nothing too unusual. Then it all unraveled. First a foul ball actually hit a van while it was driving away! That was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. It really cranked the van in the rear quarter. It was great.

Well, to balance off that, a line drive foul ball went screaming into the stands and hit a 10 year old girl in the mouth. It was quite possibly the most horrible thing I have ever personally witnessed. She had no idea it was coming and had no idea that it had hit her. She was taken from the field by ambulance and, as I understand it, had lost at least one tooth. It could have been SO much worse. She should be fine, but I couldn't really shake that gut feeling that it could have been my kid. She was with me at the game but nowhere near the accident. I couldn't even get into taking photos after that. I probably took about 25 from that point on where I would normally take about 150+. It was just horrible.

So I guess the point of this post is to remind everyone that at a baseball game, you should always make sure to sit in a protected area if possible, or even sit between your child and the home plate. That may not have even helped in this situation, but I know that if it was me, I would certainly have taken the ball in the mouth rather than have my child get hurt.

Love 'em. Hug 'em. Anything can happen.

Here are a few shots from our local AAA team the Carolina Mudcats. Sorry about the lines in the photos, but I was to lazy to get up to try and get a better shot.

This is quite possibly the best e-mail response I have heard all year:

"Hi Andrew,

You’ll be all set for July 30. Your credential will be at the Gate D media window.

Thank you,

Abby"

That would be Abby from Red Sox Media Relations. Yep, that's right, media credentials for tomorrow nights Red Sox vs LA Angels game! :woohoo: I'll be sure to post some pics this weekend! :woohoo:  :woohoo::banana: :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Well, these were taken with my Canon S3 IS, so they're not as good as some that I've seen on this thread, but I wanted to share. We went to the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Colorado Rockies game Tues. night, sitting way up high behind home plate.

Thanks Kyle, Linda and Amy! I am working on getting all the photos post processed and will post some when that is all done. All in all the experience was bitter sweet. Yes, I was down on the field at Fenway Park for Manny's last game with the Sox and Mark Texeira's first game with the Angels. That was awesome! The pics I took don't do it justice at all. I was VERY disapointed in the results overall. Yeah, I got a couple nice ones, but like I said, overall I was not happy. That has been my general thinking of my pics lately though. As the game progressed, the pass that I had allowed me to roam the park to take photos. At first this seemed like a blessing, then the security buffoons all told me that I couldn't take photos from anywhere but the bleachers or the monster seats. That was WAY too far away for decent shots. So, like anyone would do (I think anyways), I kept trying to get down to the lower sections and run past security and take a few shots before getting told to leave the section. Yeah, it worked a few times, but some times I was caught too quickly.... I never got thrown out though. I'm surprised. I had a very heated exchange with one of the security guys. :scared1:

Amy,
Great pics! I should have just brought my S2 to the game. I would have done better I think!

Amy, great photos of PNC Park. That is definately one park I want to see. I've great things about it.

Andy, sorry to hear your experience wasn't as great as it could have been. Did you get a chance to get on their field for batting practice?

Fenway isn't a very good park for roaming around to take pictures. There is pretty much no place to to stand and hang out for an inning or 2. When I went to Comerica Park last year in Detroit I walked around everywhere. Lots of standing room to watch the game or just hang out. The only time a worker said anything to me is because I was 1 foot over a yellow line near one of the vendors. He first asked me if I was with the media. It was pretty much the same in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Fenway Park is just way to old for todays lifestyle.

Can't wait to see the pics though. And no matter what it is still a very cool experience. Hey, there's always next year.

Kyle,

You are right about Fenway. There just isn't a place to hang out. Oh well. Like you said, there is always next year. I will be there again, I'm sure. I didn't know that I could go on the field for the Sox batting practice. That was a rookie mistake on my part. I did make it down there for the Angels practice though. That was cool. I got there about half way through so Vlad Guerrero and most of the bigger names had gone inside by then, but I saw Mark Texeira up close. That was cool. Then I met Justin Masterson (he was on the Wareham team a few years ago) and got his picture. He is a nice kid. Looks like he is 16 years old or so, but I think he is like 24.

One good thing that happened while there was I was eating dinner in the press area ($10 for a HUGE buffet  ) and I met a college kid who is writing a book about the owner of our team. I had seen him around the park all season but wasn't sure who he was. He needs a photographer in the upcoming couple weeks to get pics of the players he interviews in the clubhouse and asked if I would be interested. Of course, I said yes to that one! So I will hopefully be back at Fenway sooner than I had thought. We'll see if he comes through with it. Only time will tell. For now, here are a few pics that I have uploaded:

Wow, nice pickup there if it works out. Way cool.

I didn't realize they had seating like that next to the Monster seats. I knew they did that in right field, but not left. Cool.

Yeah, I have lots of the CITGO sign too. IIRC, it has been added or there are petitions in place to have it added to the national landmark list or something like that. This way no matter what happens to Citgo the sign will stay. It is a landmark in Boston. Its been there is 1965 (in pretty much its current state, there had been a different CITGO sign there since 1940) and Citgo wanted to dismantle it in 1983, but the citizens of Boston chimed in and "saved" it. I don't think it is officially on the historic landmark register, but its pretty much treated that way now. Major rehab to LED lights in '05.
