Banned from BiddingForTravel.com, anyone else?

Well I managed to get banned from BetterBidding! Get this, I got bidding advice from Bidding for Travel. Got a great Priceline deal on a hotel. I posted the info Bidding for Travel (and still think the witch complained about how I didn't note that I went through her site - which I did go through). SO then, being naive, and thinking I was helping the community, went over to Betterbidding and posted my winning bid there so there would be more info for their site. I quickly go a note saying, "next time please go through our site". So then I see a thread on there compaining about how Biddingfor Travel chastises for this, and I posted "Um, this site does that too" and that is when I got banned.

I can understand reminding to use their site, but I thought posting a winning bid there would help them, even though I didn't go through them. Crazy.

I have posted on her site a few times in the past, I never ever use the link because I CANT FIND IT.

There are two advantages. One, they give you an idea of how low you can go, so you don't pay more than you have to. Two, they give you an idea of what sorts of properties you might get.

There are still no guarantees, and you should never use one of these sites unless you are truly willing to take anything that is within the area and at that quality level---and the sites themselves determine the quality level.

I use the info on both but never post. I know that is terrible but I do not get into all the drama over a website.

Was anyone ever unbanned by Sheryl? I was banned last night at 4:38 am for not responding and purchasing and express deal.

I was sleeping!!!

Checked this morning at 6:00 am and saw I have been banned.

You can start a new user name and send her a message but she tracks IP addresses so your new user name might be banned automatically.

Ah yes, the "Priceline Nazi" - No Bids for You!

This has been going on for years.

:rotfl: Yes, it has. That woman is nuts!

My sympathies Dawn. Sounds like you're in good company though.

PS. I bet she'd even ban William Shatner if he didn't use her link!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks guys. I am over it now I think. I was just so irritated!

We are down at Disney right now, got down last night, and we are staying off site in a Priceline hotel and having a blast. No lines today at Animal Kingdom! Awesome day.

Dawn

Dare I ask where you are staying and what deal you got? haha I don't want anyone to get banned from a board or anything. lol

I use the info on both but never post. I know that is terrible but I do not get into all the drama over a website.

Years ago when I noticed how the wind blows over there I decided to do the same thing. I've used it a lot but will NEVER post anything. Like you said, I don't need the drama! I've got 2 teens and a 21 year old....need I say more? ;)

I stand corrected. She's not nuts. She's certifiable. :rotfl:

I'm in the banned group. I have no reason to defend Sheryl, I agree with most of the comments already posted THAT SAID

BFT isn't like other internet boards. The "no nonsense" approach all but eliminates spam and off topic posts/threads. You wouldn't get that without heavy moderating.

BFT is a commercial board. Affiliate commissions pays expenses and compensates the people running the board. Unless something has changed BFT is her full time "job" /source of income.

I checked her board. Posters who ask for help with PL Express deals are told not to ask for help in identifying a property until they are ready to buy. They are "asked" (TOLD) to bid/purchase through their links. They're told to do so immediately since the information becomes stale quickly.

From her (somewhat unique) point of view you either wasted her time because you weren't ready to buy or you "cheated" her out of a commission by not using her links.

Most of us are happy staying banned. If you really want to get reinstated (masochist) send her an email and grovel. Maybe you didn't like the hotel and decided to wait until the next morning before considering your alternatives.

She kind of has a point. Follow her rules or don't ask for help.

This made me laugh out loud. :p

No experience with this woman but seems like she's having extended menopause on steroids!

I went to the Better Bidding site today to check on winning bids for Ft Lauderdale. Very few postings anymore, so it looks like she's driving everyone away. She accused the last guy of trying to fight her. Poor guy apologized. I would never post on that site and have to put up with HER.

I think you are mixing up betterbidding and biddingfortravel? Sheryl's site is bidding for travel.

And side note, amusing as heck to hear that she is still in business and still a nut. The ironic (?) thing is she has posted so much inappropriate content on so many forums and sent so many abusive pm's to people yet flips over any transgressions on her site. As train wrecks go it can be pretty funny.

I use betterbidding.com now and don't even bother checking Sheryl's site. She's scared so many people away that her site is like a ghost town now and the information is rather out of date. The folks at betterbidding.com are much more personable and helpful than Sheryl ever was.

You're right. I did mix up the sites. I was checking both of them today.

Hadn't looked at either one of them in a long time. Probably three or four years. Neither one seems to get as many posts as they used to, especially Sheryl's site.

Are there any other sites that post bidding info? Seems like there used to be another one but can't remember the name.

Over the past 13 years I have contributed my winning Priceline bids to the forum at biddingfortravel.com. Hundreds of times. I have consistently used the Priceline link on that page, as requested. Hundreds of times.

I have also consistently urged people who use biddingfortravel.com to use the link and post the winning bids -- so the board can stay afloat and we all can use the experience of our fellow PL bidders to get the best deal.

I was BANNED for no reason. I tried to ask the administrator for the reason. To no avail. It looks like I'm banned for life and the reason remains a mystery.

THUS, I will NEVER be allowed to post my winning bids at biddingfortravel.com! The posts you read there will not reflect the experience of people who may be highly experienced Priceline users -- if they have been BANNED from the message board -- like me!

I shall be switching to the competition located at betterbidding.com.

Meanwhile, I might suggest my (highly simplified) strategy of getting a great deal on Priceline.com. First of all, I try to always bid a 4* hotel because I've never been dissatisfied that level -- whereas I have known 3.5* and 3* hotels to be less-than-satisfactory. Then enter your parameters (number of stars, geographic zone, dates) and look at the Express Deal price. Your bidding price can be $5 below that amount.

For most areas, waiting until 2 weeks before your trip may help save you a few dollars -- but some areas may be exceptions to this rule, particularly in high tourist seasons, during conventions and so on.

That's it.

GOODBYE BIDDINGFORTRAVEL.COM!

Well, this thread is enlightening! We have used Hotwire (or was it Priceline) once or twice and I found it too unpredictable so we swore off. This concept of websites that provide context sounds great. (Besides all the drama of a nutso moderator--may check that one out just for fun! popcorn:: )

So I just went to Betterbidding and it seems to be about hotels only? Or am I doing it wrong? I am not interested in hotels but am curious about finding guidance for car rentals. Is that covered anywhere?
