Banned from BiddingForTravel.com, anyone else?

UGH! I am a long time priceline and biddingfortravel user but I was trying to log on today and see that I have been banned.

My guess is because this last time I did not use the like to Amazing-Bargains.com....honestly, I haven't done priceline in forever and completely forgot about it.

Am I the only one?

do you mean your IP address gets blocked or your userID? I got blocked of my IP address if I access it from the office but I am OK if I do it from home, so I think it is my office firewall that caused that problem.

No, it says I have been blocked from that particular board only. I accessed it yesterday and posted a winning bid and today I am banned.

I suppose I could use a different computer as a guest and see bids and not post.

No it's not. The site is run by the "wicked witch of the west" SOMEONE at your office did SOMETHING wrong and she has "banned" that IP address. She banned my last company!

If you posted your winning bid and did not indicate you used "her" link OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! She will be happy when NO one is left to post!

I recommend www.betterbidding.com Not near as rude.

Carol I totally agree with you. I am not a registered user or poster on either site, but I do read them. I think the woman who runs biddingfortravel is extraordinarily condescending...she provides a great service - it's a shame she has to be so rude about it.

It would be one thing to "gently remind" folks to use the link. It would even be okay with me if she decided not to spend her personal time helping people who repeatedly wouldn't use it. But, this is just silly---Dawn's future "wins" won't be shared with that community, and the entire value proposition is to share information to make the process more transparent.

My personal take is that she gives shrews a bad name, and I wouldn't touch her site with a 10 foot virtual pole.

Another thing someone mentioned is that they get some sort of reward points/money for clicking through their own site rather than hers and they no longer post their winning bids.

She only gets 2% of the actual bid (not including taxes) from what I have read.

In my search, her name is infamous all over webdome!

We're talking about Sheryl, right? I guess I have a different take on her personally. I've had a few email conversations over the years with her that have been helpful. Granted she can be aburpt and seems impatient at times, but it's her web forum and her rules and I don't have any problem with her doing what she wants to do with it. There's a lot of good information over there.

Now as it relates to banning people, I agree with Brian that it doesn't seem to be particularly helpful if people don't, or can't, post anymore - that truly is the primary value of any forum.

She sent me "hate PMs" trying to find out who I was on her sight because I posted that I read her site but did not post due to the "itchy trigger finger" She literally cursed me out for not telling her who I was on her site. She was flat out abusive. It was actually funny!

There were other issues, but she was finally banned from the DIS and I assume it was due to her hateful postings on here. Nothing she ever posted on here was polite. Nothing she seems to post on her own board is polite. Maybe she's a nice woman, but she sure has a strange way of expressing it.

No, you are not the only one. I was banned and my IP was even banned so I can't even lurk there anymore without going through a proxy. AND ... get this ... I used to be a moderator there! I thought I had a friendly relationship with Sheryl. I guess not !

I totally understand that she would want to encourage people to use the links so she can get commissions from every sale. What I don't understand is why she would alienate people who provide the information that makes the site tick. She is SELLING the information that we willingly give. Without winning bids her website would be NOTHING. It's almost like she is biting the hand that feeds her. You don't want my price points? Fine. I'm OK with that. I'll share them with Better Bidding (which was created by a Sheryl banee, BTW) instead. And I'll STILL view BFT through my proxy so she hadn't stopped me from using her website .

She is a total witch. I think I was banned years ago too, but I don't even bother looking on there anymore. I use betterbidding..much friendlier! I wish more folks stepped away from her site..she doesn't deserve the "commissions" with her nasty attitude IMO.

I've used biddingfortravel for as long as I can remember (years and years) and have never had a problem. There was a time when the AB link was disabled, how did they make money then?

Can someone explain these sites to me? From what I understand they are sites which help you figure out what you will be getting before you bid on Priceline etc. I went to better bidding but was confused.
