Banking question

Here is my question/problem:

We have 230 points at OKW with a June use year. My 100% banking window ends on 11/30. Member services was closed Thanksgiving, and closed today 11/29 at there normal 5pm workday time. Since they are also closed on 11/30, I no longer can meet my 100% banking window. I know that I procrastinated, but we just returned from a 10 day trip to Beach Club, and had a large family gathering on Thanksgiving to deal with 3 days after our return! I sent the last family members packing at 5:30pm, looked at my to-do list, and uuuugggghhhhhhh!!!

Missed making that all-important call. This is not life threatening obviously, but I was wondering if I had a final option. For instance, can I fax my request to member service for 100% banking tomorrow (Saturday 11/30), even though the office is not open? They would have received it on 11/30, meeting my banking requirements.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem, or does anyone else have a suggestion. I know I can sell the points if I can't make another trip before next June, I am just trying to understand my options!

Email or fax them now, before December. Then Monday am when they open, call and make the case they were closed at the banking window and that you did contact and see what happens. I suspect DVC works on when you call them and that the member is responsible for planning around holidays and the like. However, the rules are based on when you contact them and not whether you talk to them. I think one can make a case for an email or fax received by DVC prior to the deadline even if they are closed. Let us know what happens.

Thanks for the quick response! I had not thought about emailing them, only faxing them. If I do pursue the fax option, I would need to go work( a dreaded thought since I am supposed to be on 4 day paid holiday vacation). I think maybe sending them an email tonight (11/29), may suffice. But maybe doing both (email and fax) would be more effective?

Anyway, do you have the email addy for member services? I remember listening all the way through their long voice message, and think they mentioned it. However, after hearing their offices were closed, I somewhat stopped paying attention!

I'd still follow it up with a phone call on Monday and let then know you did email (and fax) on the 29th BEFORE the Nov 30 deadline. It may not help, but does offer a point of argument.

They may offer you the one-time banking option- so be sure this is the time you'd want to use it! ;)

For something this big, I'd go in to do the fax in addition. Maybe other have direct knowledge of how it works when a weekend or holiday is involved but I seem to recall no slack given.

I'd recommend you go with the suspenders and belt...send a FAX also. You don't need to go into work; go to Kinko's or Mailboxes, etc.

In the Member Guidebook on page 22, it states "If your banking deadline falls on a weekend, you must complete your transaction by the friday before your deadline."

For faxes and emails they advise to allow two business days for a response.

In this case, the one-time option may be the only thing left.

That was my recollection but I didn't see it when I peaked earlier. I'd still get everything in today so you can argue you did it on Friday before the deadline. As Doc said, it's a slim chance.

I have sent an email to member services asking to bank this years points. I told them I would contact them on Monday morning as a followup. I will let you know what happens.

Got an email back from Member services today. My points were banked!

I only sent them an email on 11/29 at 8pm. I did not fax them. And I forgot to call today (12/2). So, the unexpected happened without any coaxing on my part, other then a friendly email.

Just thought you all would like to know!

That's great news and does remind us of a loophole which I'm sure will get filled if enough people utilize it. I'm truly happy for you and know that you are thrilled are relieved.
