Banking Question

During the several years that we have been members we have never banked any points. My wife and I recently picked up a 50 point HHI contract. This contract has an Oct. UY so I should have to bank the '09 points it had by 5/31 correct?

With this in mind we have a trip we are planning for 12/10 - 12/13 and want to use the 50 '09 HHI points that the contract had to cover this "extra trip". My question is this since the 7 month window for this trip will be here in 8 days can I book this trip as I normally would even though it is outside of the UY or do I have to bank the points first and then book the trip in order to exceed the Oct. UY?

If I have to bank the points do I then have to wait until Oct. to use them or because I want to use them after Oct. I can book in 8 days like I want to?

Points from your October, 2009 Use Year will expire on September 30, 2010 unless you extend their use thru banking. If the dates you wish to use them are within 7 months and your banking deadline has not past, you can bank them and use them with the same call - as in your situation now.

However, if you know you will not use them by September 30, 2010, I'd just go ahead and bank them to be safe since the deadline is approaching.

You can always call to make a reservation 7 months in advance, regardless of your UY.

In order to use Oct 2009 UY points for a Dec, 2010 trip, since it happens in your Oct 2010 UY, you must bank those points first before they can use them.

You can accomplish this in one call. However, if you are concerned about the availability that will be there at the 7 month mark, I would call ahead of time, and bank them so that when you call to make the reservation, they don't have to take the time to bank the points. It doesn't take long, but for some reservations, a few minutes can make a big difference.
