Banking, Borrowing & Waitlists left-over pts?!

My waitlist came through, but now I think I have a problem.

I had booked 4 nites at VWL in May & waitlisted for BWV. Then I booked BWV 5 nites for Dec.

My problem: I had to borrow to make the Dec. resv., now that they auto booked me for my May waitlist I have 8 points in my current UY Apr'09.
(The BWV res was 2pts/nt less than VW

If I bank the Apr '09 pts then I have to use them before Apr'10, but we probably won't go till May'10!

What are my options? I have a really big headache from too much celebrating of our 12th wed anv. Help!

If the points are from you 09 UY, they must be used April 1, 2009 - March 31st, 2010.

If you bank them, they will then be good for us April 1, 2010 throuhg March 31st, 2011.

If you are going in May 2010, then you can use them.

Unless I am misunderstanding your sitution, you should be fine!

If you can't extend one of your trips to use the points (you might have to borrow a few to do that), then offer to transfer them to another member. Perhaps you can turn those points into some extra cash. There are usually a few members looking for just a few more points. Try for a transfer until at least a week or so before your banking deadline.

If that doesn't work out, go ahead and bank them. Maybe your plans will change and you will find a use for the banked points before they expire.

If not, then just consider the 8 points as a "premium" you paid to switch to the BWV from VWL. It's tough to let points go, but occasionally, you just have to kiss them good bye.

That's right, they are Apr. 09 UY.

I was thinking they had to be used by Apr.'09, but that's not right. I actually don't have any point until April 2009 good until Mar 2010. (We just bought resale 2 months ago)

Did I mention the hangover?

So when do I need to bank these points if I have an Apr. UY?

Now that I re-read your post, I see Sandi is correct.

If those really are 2009 points, once they are banked, they are good for trips between 4/1/2010 ad 3/31/2011. You can use them for your May 2010 trip.

Yes you do. If you don't bank the 2009 points, then they will expire on MARCH 31, 2010.

If you want to use them for a May 2010 trip, you have to bank them first.

This is what my DVC account online says:

So I'll just call tomorrow and bank these 8 pts because I'm 99% sure we'll go either May or June 2010.

Glad things will work out! I am not sure, but you may not be able to bank them until your UY starts. But, for future reference, with an April UY, you have until the end of November each year to bank your points.
