Just want to make sure my plan makes sense. I have 457 points in use year 2022 (use year December). 257 of them were banked to 2022 from 2021. I plan to take a trip to DW in December 2023 that will use about 220 points. If I book it in January 2023 it would leave me 237 points in use year 2022. I would probably rent those out. This is where I get confused. They would book my reservation using the original 2022 points and not used the banked points since they would have to be used by Dec. 1, 2023, right? So that means I would have 237 points left in use year 2022 that would have to be used or rented by Dec.. 2023. Would my best option be to rent out the 237 points now for a trip to be done by Dec. 2023 and then in January book my vacation? I hope this makes sense, I've had DVC since 93 and still get confused with banking and borrowing and use year versus calendar year, lol.
Thanks,
Tony

Banked 2021 points expire November 30th, 2023. They will not be eligible for a trip in your 2023 UY, which is when a Dec 2023 UY trip happens. So none of the 257 can be used for your trip.

Since the trip is in the 2023 UY, you will also need to bank the 2022 200 points prior to making your booking in January. If not, those won’t show up as eligible either. It’s about the status of points when your travel and not when you book.

I personally would do my own first and then worry about renting out the 257 2021 points you won’t be using.

In case I have confused you, once you bank the 200 points, the system will use those first, and then take 20 from your 2023 UY.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure I had it straight. Thanks for the reminder that after I rent the points I will have to bank my remaining points to book the vacation.

Just to clarify, you’d have all 257 points banked from 2021 to rent, not 237.
