Banked points Question

I am looking into buying a resale. The UY is Dec and the seller has already banked 2010 points so no points are coming in until Dec 2011. If I purchase this can I borrow points in order to use them for a vacation occuring before December? I would think no, but want to check.

You would be able to borrow points from the Dec 2011 UY into the Dec 2010 UY to make a reservation. Once borrowed, those points would have to be used during the Dec 2010 UY or they will expire. The points already banked into the Dec 2011 can't be borrowed and those must be used during the Dec 2011 UY or they will expire.

As mentioned, you will not be able to borrow the 2010 UY points back but can borrow the 2011 UY points.

This will always be the case if you bank points and then decide you want to travel.

The only thing you need to be sure of is that you will be traveling as once you borrow those 2011 UY points, they will expire on November 30th, 2011 if you have to cancel.

It's as erionm said, so buy and go this year. No different then buying a contract with points in 2010. You would just flip flop the years. The members at members services (MS) are the best and will guide you.
