Propbably can't do this but thought I would ask.
I have 150 banked points 2006-2007 aug use year. If I wanted to book a cruise for sept 07 could I se thos points towards a cruise if I booked it in advace of the Aug 2007 deadline? Or do I have to use the points by Aug 2007 to avoid losing them.

Laura

Are you saying you have already banked all of your '06 points into your '07 use year? If that is the case, those points are already in the correct use year for your cruise. They will be combined with your 2007 points to use for that cruise.

I just re-read that, and I'm more confused than ever. Your Aug use year 2006 points are not available for you to bank until after Aug. 1st. At that time you would bank 100% of your points into the 2007 use year and then have 2 years worth of points to use to book that Sept. '07 cuise. You could also borrow your 2008 points to add to it if need be. If you are asking WHEN you can book, that would be at the 11 month booking window...11 months from the check out day of the cruise.

My confusion was that the banked points are for Aug. 2006 until Aug 2007. The date of the cruise is Septmeber 07. So I wasn't sure if I could use the banked points because I thought the trip had to be taken prior to the end of the use year (AUG 07) . I know it is a confusing question.

No - you will not be able to use those points for a cruise that departs in September 2007. Sounds like they were originally 2005 use year points and were banked into the 2006 use year. Thus they are good for stays (or cruises) that occur between 8/1/2006 and 7/31/2007. If not used, those points will expire on 7/31/2007.

A September 2007 cruise falls within your 2007 use year. So for that, you may bank your 2006 use year points (to make them valid for the 2007 use year), 2007 use year points and if you still need more, you may borrow 2008 use year points.

Best wishes -

Points for exchange are supposed to be available to DVC for the use year in which the exchange takes place. If by chance the exchange option is so far out that this is not possible, DVC tells me they can take either this use years or next use year points. So in your situation as described, it depends on when you book that cruise. If you did so now, you could actually use those points plus the native 2006 points plus borrow from your 2007 use year. If you wait until October of this year to bank as you normally would have had to do with a DCL exchange previously, you would not be able to use the 2005 points that have been banked to 2006. At least that is my understanding after asking MS this exact question recently.

This will happen with some exchanges that are available more than a year out and now with DCL it appears.

LOL, looks like we were ALL correct except that the points were '05 points, not '06 ones. Dean, You comment is very interesting! Could you go into more detail?
