Bank points first?

I have Aug 2023 points to be banked by March. We are considering a March trip. Do I bank them now before I make the reservations? Seems like it was mentioned there was an advantage to banking first. Thank you

Aug 2023 points are “current” use year points for any reservation in March 2024 (the use year runs from Aug 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024). Thus, if you mean March 2024, you would not bank them but instead use them to make a reservation, and being only 4-5 months out from March, you need to look now for whether you can get your desired reservation, and make it quickly if there is an opening.

If you mean you want to use them for a trip in March 2025, then you would need to bank them into the August 2024 use year by no later than March 31, 2024.
