Just be aware that you might not be able to use it at some shopping places or restaurants at Downtown Disney. Some of the "non-Disney" places there may not take them.
But you should be able to use it for food in the parks and at resorts, recreation, park passes, etc. You can also use it at Disney Stores and Disney Catalog online.
I had about $160 on mine and used it to pay for the more expensive meals. I actually had about $40 left over when I came home, so I used the rest up for a Disney Catalog order online (and paid for the balance with my regular credit card).
You have to have at least $20 I think to request the (Disney Rewards Card) card, but after that you only need to have at least $10 Disney Dream Reward Dollars to transfer more to the card. And it can be any amount, not just multiples of $10 or $20. Also be aware that the cards have an expiration date (mine is December of this year and I got it last fall). Any unused Dollars left on the Disney Reward Card will be forfeited when the card expires. This is a different expiration date from the untransferred Reward Dollars, which have an expiration date of 60 billing cycles from when they are earned. I have about 83 DDRD accrued right now, but I don't plan to transfer them until right before our trip in 2005. Transferring them happens almost immediately once you have the plastic card.
HTH!
