Baltimore Seafood options

I am looking for a seafood restaurant in the Baltimore area that would be good for seafood and traditional dining. We are looking for something that would allow casual attire and would be for lunch during the week. Hoping to eat around 11am before a flight. (flight is at 3:30)

We will be coming to the airport from Gettysburg so anything that would be along that route is a plus. My father-in-law is looking for fresh lobster, and my wife and I would prefer a pasta or beef/chicken option.

Thanks. I have googled this, and just want some local options.

At the Inner Harbor of Baltimore is McCormick & Schmick's which is a nice, sit-down place. They also have their M&S Grill, which is a slightly lower cost, more causal dining option. The restaurant is based out of Portland, Or (where I consider home) so I'm a bit biased but it is good seafood and other options.

There's also a Phillips Seafood restaurant with amazing crab cakes near Barnes and Noble and the Hard Rock Cafe at the Power Plant at the Inner Harbor. Phillips is our favorite for seafood in Baltimore.

I live pretty close (Howard County) and getting into and out of the Inner Harbor may be risky to get to the airport on time (I'm quite anal about making sure we have time before a flight - much to my husband's dismay)... But, if you're interested in Baltimore itself, I've heard wonderful things about Mama's On The Half Shell (the owner, who sadly died in a bike accident, was a dear friend from my kids' old school, and beloved in the community).

You can find lots of good places to eat in the Ellicott City area, which is super close to the airport (more on your way). Seafood, however, isn't the type of food I'm too familiar with there (my DH is Korean so we go out to Shin Chon at Route 40 and 29 often for Korean BBQ - it was featured recently on Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods America, funny since it's not really bizzare!!). Not a seafood place, though!

Lobster isn't popular here like it is in Maine, and if you find it on a menu it's pricey. Crabs and crabcakes are - and everyone has them. I'm not a huge crab person, but crabcakes are okay. I'd look at Yelp and Tripadvisor maybe?

I live very close to Gettysburg (in Hanover) and I know you didn't ask about restaurants there, but if you are looking for something good, the Dobbin House is our favorite. It's a historic restaurant and the wait staff dress in Civil War era outfits. Near the bathrooms are stairs where you can see where slaves were hidden between the floors. They have the best French onion soup and their steaks, crab cakes and chicken are great too. I know they have lobster (market value price) on the menu, but have never had it. Mr. G's is a homemade icecream shop that shouldn't be missed either. Hanover is very close to Gettysburg and has the Bay City seafood restaurant. Not sure where else I could really say has great seafood around, but I'll ask some friends and see if they can think of anything else. It will take about an hour and 20 minutes to get to Baltimore from Gettysburg. Depending on the day, traffic can be a little busy heading to BWI. Just got back from a trip to WDW last night and it took us just over an hour to get home, but that was at 10PM. If you get a chance, do one of the Gettysburg ghost walks. They have multiple tours offered nightly.

you have some good options at the inner harbour. BWI is not that far. I think if you have lunch at 11, you can make BWI with time.

I know you were looking for lobster, but how about amazing crab cakes?
We used to always go to Gunning's. It's only about 10 minutes from BWI, the crab cakes are amazing, get them broiled not fried.

All of this talk is making me homesick. We just moved from Baltimore to Orlando area this past December.

The ghost tours are the main attraction for this trip. We are spending a day in Harpers Ferry, WV, a day in Heshey PA, and a day in Gettysburg.

My dad loves their crab cakes. They are pretty good. I do get really good lobster at the Farmer's Market.
