I saw a thread on the Baltimore Aquarium and didn't want to hijack it with a lot of dining talk.

We are headed to Baltimore for Preakness. Any dining ideas in the Inner Harbor (or Fells Point) area? I see Phillip's moved to the old ESPN Zone building. We were there a few years ago and were told they didn't serve steamed crabs any more. Is that still the case?

How about the Hunt Valley/Cockeysville area as well??

Always appreciate DIS ideas!!

There's actually a lot of restaurant info in that thread if you haven't read it. You might as well post there.

We love Phillips. It's a must-do for us everytime we are in that area. I don't know about the steamed crab though - we haven't been there since they moved.

Thank you for all of the ideas. They sound great.

I had posted on the other thread referred to but since the intent of the thread was to answer questions about the aquarium, I didn't want to go off topic and take the thread in another direction. But thank you for directing me there as well.

I always get alot of help from DIS people. :)

One of our favorites is Miss Shirley's Cafe but they're only open for breakfast and lunch. They have two locations one a few miles north of the city and another near the Inner Harbor. You also can't go wrong with any place in Little Italy (just east of the Inner Harbor). Vaccaro's is a great place for dessert if you venture over that way.

Ditto! Miss Shirley's is the BEST breakfast I have ever had. It is right near the aquarium. Yum!:thumbsup2

There was a tapas restaurant around Fells Point that was AWESOME! (Tapas are an a la carte type of restaurant, Mediterranian style.) When we went (in the summer) the entire front of the restaurant was open to the outdoors, and it was lots of fun.

I just looked it up and I found it! http://www.kalismezze.com/

It's not crabs, but it's still worth checking out.

Even if crabs are on the menu in May, they wont be very good yet. An alternative is crabcakes. Although not at the inner harbor, G and M restaurant has the best crabcakes in Baltimore.
