Ballast Point Walk-ups

Has anyone had any luck getting a walk-up spot for Ballast Point? I have not been able to get a reservation for this weekend or next week at all, and I have tried daily for the past two weeks.

They don't take walk ups. We asked last week.

Did you try Open Table? It used to be easier to get a reservation there pre Covid.

To be fair, they have VERY few tables even pre covid and you can't yet sit at the bar.

Ballast? I was there in the summer and thought they had a lot of tables on their patio upstairs.

Those were not available for reservations. That was seating for the walk up bar.

We ate outside (upstairs) on the large patio in November via reservation (I thought it was summer, but now I remember it was in the Fall!). This was the patio that is above Wetzels. Are there two patios? Either way, it’s a bummer we can’t eat there this visit, it’s my husband’s favorite.

Yes, they are using those now for reservations, but they weren't prior to covid.

But they told us once we get to Orange tier, they can open the outdoor bar and can serve alcohol without selling food and at that point those tables will be used for that area, and taken out of the reservation inventory. OC is expected to switch to Orange tier 3/31.

During Covid, I had luck with walk up at Ballast Point the one time I tried. It was a Thursday, so not the most popular day, and it was about 5:30pm so it was pretty early. I admit, we got lucky because another couple came after us while the wait staff was taking us up and were told they didn't have anymore tables.
