Hi,

DH and I are still thinking about DVC and we are planning on renting some points for a 5 night stay at the BCV when we travel to Orlando next summer. We have 2 small DD's and I was wondering about the balconies on the units - first I assume it is a given that they are pretty child proof (Obviously I know the whole Children should always be supervised on the balcony thing!)

Secondly is the Studio balcony smaller than the 1BR? If we buy DVC we will want to be able to stay in a 1Br or even 2BR but for this holiday the budget is tight and if I can secure a rental it will probably be a studio - so with little kids going to bed reasonably early will DH and I be able to sit out on the balcony for a while and read, chat etc... or is it too small for that?!

Our balcony at SSR was extremely small, but usable. Looking at the room sketches in the Vacation Planner, it looks like BCV is even smaller. All the balconies are child save and meet code.

The only thing I would caution about with regard to children on the balcony is the tendency for some (mine, for example) to want to climb patio furniture and stand on it. This puts them at an undesirable height when next to the railing. :scared1: We were always watching them, of course, but when my daughter was very young we turned all of the patio furniture over upside down so that she couldn't sneak one over on us.

Yes! It worried me greatly as well. The kids first inclination is to climb up to see over the edge. Almost gave me a heartattack.

OK - climbing issue duly noted, my older DD will be 4 and she is a climber!

Can anyone give me an estimate is terms of number of feet wide by number of feet long a studio balcony is?

Thanks in advance

the studio balconies are small - so is the 1-bedroom - but enough room for a small table and 2 chairs.

that say some of the BCV studio balconies are big. You don't know if you have one of these until you arrive.

but would say more than enough room for you to go outside and have a drink and conversation.

okay this is assuming they are in the queen bed - if they are in the sofa bed - it would be a tight quease to get outside around that bed - because the inside table is there too.

you can do it - just might have to move some stuff - so do this while they are awake.

I'd say they are about 5' by 3'. Not very big.
