HI!

I was enjoying the apple thread, but was hoping someone could help me with a recipe. I saw baked apples wrapped in a pastry dough - not sure if it was phyllo or just a pie shell. has anyone done this? I'd love to try it, but I'm afraid of burning the shell and having a raw apple. I tried Pillsbury's website w/ no luck.

TIA

I make my apple dumplings this way. I cut the pie shell in 4 pieces. I peel and slice 1 apple per piece or pie crust. Lay the apple pieces on the pie crust sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and dot with butter and then wrap into a pouch. Take the 8 little pouches and place in greased 9/13 baking pan. Mix 1 cup brown sugar with 2 cups water and pour over apples and bake at 350 until the shells are brown. The brown sugar will make a wonderful sauce to use over the apples when you serve them.
