Hi, so I'm seriously considering a Christmas Cruise with my daughters who are 12 and 17 this year. We have done a New Years Cruise but never Christmas. I'm just curious as what to expect. What is it like on the ship for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? The girls and I just want to be away from him for Christmas, still spend it as a little family but be in the warmth of the ocean and sunshine. Any advice anyone can give me would be appreciated.

Christmas tree lighting will be 12/23, and Christmas Eve has Mrs. Clause tell the Christmas story by the tree and hot cocoa in the atrium along with cookies. Christmas day has some activities but the day is generally a relaxing day. It looks like Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be days at sea on the Wonder. I would strongly recommend the Gingerbread House building. You need to book that right away once on board. I tell everyone not to expect DCL to present Christmas to them, but to bring the Christmas spirit on board with you. DCL doesn't go over the top IMHO. Highly recommend if you want to pay the up-charge.

We just did a cruise on the Wonder out of Galveston (we were on the Dec 18-24 sailing). It was great, and my son and I had a fantastic time. But as the previous poster said, it's not in your face. The on-board activities were very similar to what were offered during our 2013 Thanksgiving cruise. We stopped in Key West and Castaway Cay. The weather was ok (cloudy and windy in Key West and our excursions were cancelled; had intermittent showers on Castaway Cay but were still able to go kayaking). So, don't count on warmth and sunshine. The gingerbread house decorating was sold out by the time we got on board (about 1 or 130 pm).

Anyway, we loved it and had a great time, but it wasn't really all that different from our Thanksgiving cruise. The ship is decorated beautifully for the holidays, though.

We were disappointed with our cruise out of Galveston on the Wonder 2015. We got tickets to the gingerbread house making event but it was disorganized and chaotic. People were coming in who didnt have tickets. The venue was dark and crowded. I forgot the name of that place right above tritons. We never got to see santa because the few times he surfaced the lines were unbelievable and got cut off by a cast member. The tree lighting was also too crowded too enjoy. Other than that not much christmas. Apparently the weather is bad that time of year crossing the gulf of mexico. Rough seas, not a lot of sun. But still... if you just want to get away, you will have fun.
