I’ve been silent for a while, have had many great Disney experiences and a second great grandson. I’ve figured it’s time to pick it up again and talk about our travels. So here we go. We leave Las Vegas and fly to Orlando. My wife and I are bringing along our Grandson his wife and two boys, our daughter and son in law to Disneys Old Key West for 2 days January 2nd and 3rd and on Saturday Jan 4th we take the Disney Bus to Cape Canaveral and board the Disney Treasure for a 7 day excursion to the Virgin Islands. I will be excited to let you all know how great the trip is, and since it’s Disney, it will be great no doubt.

Have a great trip , can’t wait to hear what you think about the Treasure.

Have a wonderful time.... We aren't able to sail right now... Won't be on a boat until September! Hope you have a WONDERFUL trip and make lots of MAGICAL memories!

And Old Key West isn't too bad either :)

Enjoy your Treasure Cruise. I’m interested in learning about the DVC exclusive sailing. We’ll be on the Treasure two weeks after you!

Can't wait to hear about your trip on the Treasure, we're looking forward to seeing her in person!

Thursday January 2nd on route to Disney world before getting to the Cruise ship Treasure on January 4th.

Up at 4:30 AM to get ready for a 7:30am Pacific time flight out from Harry Reid airport Las Vegas. My wife and I met up with our Grandson, his wife and two boys at ticketing and our baggage drop off. After our luggage was checked in we headed to security check and to our gate. Plane left on time and the flight was uneventful. We arrived at MCO, Orlando airport at about 3:50 PM east coast time. Waited by luggage claim only to find they lost our luggage. I checked our luggage air tags and it said they were in Chicago. They finally confirmed that they were in Chicago and it would get to us the the next day. At least we knew we would get them. Good thing we planned our trip to include 2 days before we board the Disney Treasure. You never know delays happen you need to plan accordingly.
When we arrived our daughter and husbands room was ready, they were not arriving until about 12:00 midnight. Our two bedroom suite was not ready. When I wife went to the desk they said that they were working on it so we told them we had reservations at Olivias and we would be back. Needless to say during our dinner the Manager from guest services came in to the restaurant to tell us there was a problem with our room and we would not be staying in a room close to our daughters and the two bedroom would be on the third floor at the other end of the complex with no elevator. That would not do since we requested 1st floor or in one of the buildings with an elevator. My wife has ankle problems and can not do three flights of stairs every time we leave the room. They said they are trying to accommodate us to just give them some time. The manager was extreemy apologetic and nice. Before we finished our meal she came back into the restaurant and told us we have a two bedroom suite concierge level at the Beach Club and a room right next door for our Daughter. While we love the Beach Club we really were looking forward to the peace and quiet vibe of Old Key West. All things said that was very nice of them to accommodate us.
They had a large van come to pick us up and agreed that when the airlines sends our luggage to them they would make sure it get to us right away. We checked in to our rooms and just relaxed until it was time to retire for the evening.
More to come. The entire 9 days of vacation.

Friday January 3rd.

Our daughter and son in law arrived about 1am and would sleep in. We woke up early with the boys 1 year old and 4 years old. The front desk called the room and told us our luggage was there and they would bring it up.
We had no plans to go to any parks since we would only be here for one day and have to get up early in the morning again to catch the Disney bus to Cape Canaveral. We all took the Skyliner to the Riviera and then to Pop Century. We got out and walked around Pop Century. It was much nicer than we thought, we had never took the trek over there to check it out before since we most likely would not ever stay there but I have to say I would stay there if we needed to. The boys really loved the Skyliner and thought it was just the best adventure ever.
Afterwards we rented a pontoon and took a boat ride all around the lake.
We returned to the room and met up with our daughter and son in law (Nana Amy and Grand Father Harry) we sat around for a while and all started to get ready for our reservations at the Boat House in Disney Springs. This is our favorite restaurant and we go there everytime we come to Disney World. We all hopped on the bus to Disney Springs and arrived at the Boat House and everyone just loved it , the food was great, (as always) and the service was over the top. After dinner they wanted to do some shopping at Disney Springs so my wife and I went back to the bus and to our rooms. How many times can you say that as soon as you got to the bus stop the bus pulls up. As soon as you sit down in your seat the bus pulled away. What luck and the bus was almost empty.
Everyone returned and we began to pack and get ready for the trip to the ship in the morning. We are all excited to see and spend a week on the Treasure and go to the Virgin Islands and Castaway Cay.

Saturday January 4th

All packed. They came and got all our luggage from our room and we are ready to go down and meet the others who are also going on the bus. Our one hour ride on the bus was really nice, comfortable and our 4 year old great grandson was getting more excited by the minute to see the big ship we were going to sail on. Soon it was in view and it was so cute that the young boy sitting behind our great grandson became good friends on the journey and were both so excited together to see the huge Disney ship come into view.

Soon we got off the bus and began the process to board the ship. Before we entered into the ship we were all announced family by family as we walked into the grand foyer.

The room was not ready to enter so we went up to the 11th floor and ate at the buffet, we were amazed how fresh and good the food was. Our state rooms were ready to enter so we went. We had connecting rooms with our Grandson, his wife and two boys and our daughter and son in law had a room a few doors away. Each of our state rooms were nice and the balconys outside had two chairs and a table to relax and watch the ocean go by.

Some of our luggage arrived but not all of it. The guy in charge of our room said he will keep checking for it. He soon came back and said they gave out all the luggage and could not find ours. I just thought this luggage just does not want to find its way to us it keeps trying to get lost. Guess I will just have to wear the same clothes all week (only kidding)

Later we went to our emergency drill and were soon on our way. He eventually came back to our cabin with our lost luggage and said he found it, with a explanation, I knew it was not where it should have been.

Once we took off I felt the boat rock back and fourth. Not good for me. I am not a cruise lover, the last cruise which was not a Disney cruise I spent the whole time in the state room sick to my stomach. I almost felt like this was the start of the same thing. I did bring these sea sickness bands called Sea Bands that fit snug around each wrist with a pressure point bead that is supposed to keep you from getting nauseous while I did not feel great but I never felt like I would be sick my stomach but it did turn constantly though. It works.

At dinnertime we ate at 1923 the boat rocked so much I got three bites of food and could not eat anymore. I went back to the stateroom and by 7:30 I was fast asleep. While I could not eat much for fear I would be sick, I wasn’t crazy about the pasta dish anyway.

The next morning when the family all got together again, everyone said the food was not that good. Kind of tasteless and dry. But I can not express how beautiful the ship is. Not going to explore the ship tonight since I do not feel like bouncing off the walls in the hallway since the boat is rocking so much. Well hope tomorrow will be better.

Sunday January 5th

All day at sea, the wind was brutal and the boat rocked even worse than yesterday. Some pools were shut down and not many people laying out on the decks, because of that we stayed in our stateroom and we all just hung out and ordered room service.

Later in the afternoon my wife left to go to the spa and I stayed behind and fell asleep on the couch, yes the boat was still rocking back and fourth and I was not feeling so great. Soon an announcement was made in our room that we are changing course and heading to Nassau because there was a medical emergency on board and we needed to get to the closest hospital. We do wish that person well and hope they recover quickly.

Hours later we arrived in Nassau and began docking while we were at dinner in the Marvel restaurant. I was feeling much better since we were now docked and the ship was still. Dinner was very good, and of course the service was the best, while yesterday the food was not the best the service was still great.

We are now on our way to the Virgin Islands and again rocking back and fourth. Looks like there is no end to this, but good thing for those bands on my wrist. They work. We put an order for coffee and muffins on our door for 8:30am. Before we went to bed we were all told to set our clocks one hour ahead for the time change. Well I have an iphone and ipad (never a need for a watch anymore) not sure how to change them, well I guess they will just automatically change themselves since I at least bought the internet and wi fi streaming. Or so I thought…..

Can I ask what part of the ship you were staying in? I am wondering if the middle of ship felt less or it didn't matter where you were.

Monday January 6th

Well it says on my iphone 7:15 am and there is a knock on the door. Its our breakfast order. We asked what time it was and he said after 8:15. Well our phone and ipad did not change the time so its something we will have to get used to until it catches up.

Cloudy out, but it is a very comfortable warm breeze so I have the door open to our porch. Oh yeah the boat is still rocking. I know what your thinking, its a boat, get over it. I normally would think it was just me with the issue of the rocking boat but everyone in our party, most love fast roller coasters that go upside down and deep sea fishing said yes the boat is not very stable and they are feeling it to. Walking around you see many people unstable on their feet.

My wife and I decided to go up to the 14th floor and find a nice big round cozy couch to lay down on and read. The wind up there was hurricane force but since it was warm out it felt good. The boat did not feel so rocky from there although looking out between the rails it definitely was. After about 2 hours not being able to open a book, (the pages would just get ripped off from the wind) and no bloging since I was afraid that my ipad would go flying in the wind, we decided to go down to the 11 floor where all the pools and eaterys were and maybe just get a burger. I got a cheese burger and it was really good but the tables were behind glass and with the sun beating in and the boat rocking it was not a great place for food and stomach. I had a few bites and we left to go back to the room.

We all did our own thing, my wife and I rested in our state room, the grandson and family went to the pools and our daughter and son in law slept in (yes until the afternoon, but in their defense we all are from the west coast and its three hours earilier).

We received word that due to the change in direction yesterday we would be docking into Tortola later than expected. Our trip to the beach will now be from 11am to 4:15pm. Our dinner reservations are at 5:45 so we now have to change that. It would not have mattered we could have just eaten at the buffet but tomorrow night is pirates night and we all have pirate costumes that we purchased on Amazon before we left home. The boys were looking forward to this. They told us we needed to talk to our servers tonight to see if we could switch to the later dining. Hope we can.

Got back from dinner at Coco’s. The show, the dinner and the music was excellent along with our two waiters that have followed us from restaurant to restaurant. We got back to the room and together with nana Amy we watched the boys while their mother and father went to the spa. The kids have finally fell asleep and my wife and I are next.

Tomorrow is the excursion to the beach in Tortola and we did get a late start for dinner tomorrow. The pirate dinner is tomorrow.

Tuesday January 7th

Woke up early and went upstairs to the buffet for some breakfast. Today we tried the buffet since we have been ordering room service every morning. I think room service is easier. Got back to the cabin and got myself ready for our excursion to the beach at Jost Van Dyke.

The Treasure pulled into port this morning the Brittish Virgin Islands Tortola around 11 am. Those who were going to shore for this excursion all met and disembarked the ship and made our way to a waiting boat taxi that will take us to the Jost Van Dyke island. The trip was about 40 minutes through the waterways, the sun was very hot and the ride was pretty bumpy. Getting on and off the water taxi may be challenging

for some. There is no plank to go from the dock to the boat, they pulled up as close to the dock as they could, about a foot to a foot and a half open gap between both along with the rough waters the boat moving up and down so much they had taxi staff at both ends helping guests on the boat. I read they will not allow anyone who is wheelchair bound on this excursion and I definately can see why, its not possible to navigate a wheelchair onto this boat. After the ride to our beach island we all left the water taxi and boarded land taxi’s that were waiting for us.

This trip was about 15 minutes through very and I mean very hilly terrain. Finally we made it to the beach, after a kinda short walk we made it to our beach chairs that were just for the Treasure cruise people. The water was beautiful with lots of boats parked very close to shore. While on the water taxi they were handing out coupons for drinks and food, I was never given one. I did see them handing them out but I though it was just like a freebee to get you to go to other food and drink establishments along the beach. It was not you need those coupons to get food and drink at our tour destination and when you leave the ship at 11am and not head back to the ship until 4:30pm you need to eat something. There was BBQ right in our area which I thought that Disney prepared for us but it was not. When I got in line for food the guy asked me for my meal ticket and I told him I did not get one. He asked me for a drink ticket and I said I saw them handing them out but they never got to me. Me he told me he would walk me over to the bar and tell them to give me a drink, I told him I was okay. He handed me a tray and told me to enjoy the food. That was nice of him. The day at the beach was a nice time to enjoy some land. At 4:30 we all headed back to the land taxi’s that were waiting for us and boarded them. We got to the water taxi and back to the ship we went arriving back about 5:45.

We missed the 5:45 dinner but the night before we spoke to Cindy the Restaurant coordinator and she said make sure you ask for me tomorrow night and I will get you in the late dinner. After getting ready and dressed, kids and adults in costume for the Pirate party celebration before dinner. This celebration show is a must see for kids and adult kids. It was just great and the kids loved it.

Now we headed off to our dinner. When we got to 1923 there was a very long line waiting to get into the restaurant, they had not opened yet so no one was let in. My wife went up to the entrance where the cast member was waiting to start letting dinner goers in and asked them to let Cindy know we were here. The cast member asked my wife if she was Marianne and my wife said yes. The girl asked if our party was ready to enter please come up to the front of the line. We headed to the front of the long line, unknown why we were told to come to the front, at that point the cast member told us that we were the honoray family opening up the dinner celebration and our waiter was waiting right there and we were escourted in with all the staff and there was alot, stood on both sides of us cheering and welcoming us into the restaurant. Well that was so unexpected and special. Dinner was very good and of course our waiters were amazing and Cindy stopped by our table and we thanked her. Well that was amazing. These cast members are very special people.

This evening they were having fireworks but my wife and I were exhausted so the rest of the family headed up to the firework area and we went to our state room. I was sitting on the couch relaxing before retiring and heard the fireworks going off, I opened our curtains to our veranda and saw the fireworks, well we did not miss them, we sat on our balcony and we saw every one of them. Now hows that for convenience. After that I made up the door tag ordering room service for tomorrow morning and it was off to sleep. Tomorrow is the St John, US Virgin Island. Self tour.
