Remember those inexpensive movie ticket vouchers that were all over the discount sites like groupon, social living, tiprr and buywithme about a month ago? Well if you didnt use them you may be out of luck. It looks like the weeklycinema website has gone out of business and the redemption codes for fandango have been invalidated. The ones for movietickets.com still work but who knows for how long. Theres a big thread about it over on slickdeals. Alot of very unhappy people right now. Looks like living social and groupon are giving full refunds to there customers. Youll need to contact them to initiate the refund. You can also initial a dispute with your credit card if you dont get anywhere with whoever you purchased the voucher from.

Thanks for the info. I am so glad I bought my harry potter tickets 2 weeks ago :).

Thanks for posting this! What a bummer, I was saving them for Tangled for my dds birthday!! At least I got a refund from Living Social. Evidently weeklycinema went out of business last night... Such a great deal, should've known.....:sad2:

I demanded a full refund over a week ago, once all the redemption problems started. It was clear something was going on. Groupon pushed me to be patient and wait for WeeklyCinema to get their act together "in a couple of days" - but I insisted I wanted a refund then and there because I won't do business with companies that give such shoddy customer service. Changing the rules of a deal mid-stream, after they had my money, was a HUGE red flag!

Just called Groupon. They were awesome. Refunded my cc in about 30 seconds, very apologetic about the whole situation, explained they had no way of knowing when they did the groupon. I'm totally satisfied. I even used 2 of the tickets (and told Groupon this) and they still issued a full refund. :goodvibes

Sent email to Groupon about an hour ago. They have already replied that my money is being refunded no problems at all.

I agree - what a bummer, oh well! As long as I get back my $20 I'll be okay ;)

I'm so confused *who* to call or email! It feels like 4 companies were involved in this promo - Weekly Cinema, Groupon, Tippr and Fandango! What email or phone number have you guys used successfully to obtain a refund?

I would sincerely appreciate it! :flower3:

Thanks,
Heather

It depends on who you gave your credit card info to. If you bought a voucher through groupon and then redeemed it at weekly cinema then go to groupon's website and find the phone number or email for there customer service. If you had a subscription account with weekly cinema to get a certain number of tickets each month for a fee, then you need to deal with them. Fandango does not seem to be involved in any refunding at this point. If you redeemed for tickets already but have not used them, they should be fine according to an email that I got from fandango regarding the subject.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! :thumbsup2

My credit card was billed by Tippr so I'm assuming that is who I should contact - just curious what number everyone used? I have a number on the c/c statement of 206-2749366. I just tried calling this number and it is no longer in service.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Heather

Check the wikki post in the slickdeals link. There are phone numbers there. Not sure that I can or should post them here.

I haven't even tried to redeem that Groupon yet, so I will be contacting them. Thanks for the heads up about the Weekly Cinema problems.

In the email I received from groupon it said they would be refunding the full amount automatically to te CC used.
At least I got to redeem 2 at movietickets.com for Harry Potter IMAX tickets.

I did find it odd that I couldn't redeem codes from weekly cinema without calling them. That sucked. That wasn't what the deal was initially, but the next day the site was working properly and I got the HP tickets. Then next day they were closed.
