We just got back from a long weekend camping, and frankly, I'm glad it's over.
We started off the week by taking our vehicle for a routine, pre-trip brake check, only to discover nearly $1000. in repairs required. Got the repairs done, off we go.
I came back into the city on Saturday morning to take my son to a birthday party. I came home to discover my poor kitty collapsed, barely alive. I knew that he was getting sick,he'd been drinking more than usual and had lost some weight. I suspected diabetes, and I had an appointment booked for today to start the testing. He had "feline Ketosis" (spelling?) and the vet said it was a metobolic crisis. I had to euthanize him before I picked my son up from the party. He was our faithful pet, and I feel horrible that he needed us and we weren't here, but I am grateful that I came home in time to be with him. Horrible day.
On the way home from camping, I was driving behind my husband who was pulling the trailer. The wheel flew off the trailer, and came bouncing down the road headed straigth for us.
We dodged it, as did all of the other traffic, thank goodness. The only thing more frightening than having it happen is watching it happen to the vehicle carrying your husband and son. The trailer was bouncing and swaying, sparks were flying. Very scary. I ended up waiting a very long time for the tow truck, and in the meantime, sent DH home with the kids in the other vehicle. ( I have the CAA membership, and had to stay to sign the paperwork. I didn't see the need for all of us to stay and be miserable). DH didn't get off so easy, because he had the difficult task of telling the kids about the cat when they got home. My daughter has taken it particularily hard, so it has been another tough day.
Now I'm waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster, and I am trying to work from home as I work for myself, and the kid's didn't want to go to day camp this year. I think I'll go in to the office for a little while later in the day, I think I need the mindless familiarity to distract me.
