Has anybody done this??? It's very popular so somebody must know something about it other than the standard description. Is it something dd5 and I would like? I thought it sounded fun but kind of pricey. We've done Chef Mickey's, Princess breakfast in Norway and the Alice Tea party...looking for something new(for us) and different. Thanks

For the price, I'd do Hoop Dee Doo (HDDR) instead of the BBQ. We didn't enjoy the BBQ at all - it is different though. It is held at an outdoor pavilion with country music and character interaction. HDDR doesn't have Mickey - don't know if that is what you are looking for - but I think the food is better and the show is held inside.

i agree. we have done the BBQ and it was fine, but we prefer the HDD. as mentioned it is outside; so, depending the time of year it could be hot or damp(fall/winter) or just chilly. the meal is served buffet style. again, as mentioned, for the money i would choose the HDD. :earboy2:

i guess i am in the minority here but we loved the bbq. i have three kids and it was great. they got to run around and dance with the characters and play games outside. they had a really good buffet with all the normal "cookout" food, which my kids love. i don't know if its always like this but the characters were out alot and really interacted with the kids and took a long time to take pictures and play with them. i would definately go back again.

In my opinion you are far better off doing the HDDR or even a character meal instead of the Back yard BBQ. When we went last year the food was horrid and undercooked or over cooked and swimming in grease. The opportunities to intersct with the characters are not like at other meals. The characters stay out in the middle and its more like a meet and greet mixed with a lot of chaos. Taking a 5 yr old to it would send me into a panic attack over the fear of her getting trampled. I dont know if it was just an isolated incident when i ate there or not, but it seemed to me that the parents and CMs allowed the children to run wild like a pack of "lost boys". If you do decide to go i hope you have better luck than did. The BBQ is 1 character meal i would NEVER do again

We went there back in 2001. It was alright, but we said we would not do it again. The thing that my DH did not like was there was no pop. He is not a beer, lemonade, or tea drinker. At that time my DS were 5 and 3 and besides the characters being there they were bored and kept wanted to go back swimming. Maybe it was just bad timing with the kids. :earsgirl:
