Backpacks and Touring Questions

We always bring backpacks but I despise fanny packs and cargo shorts. The only thing I want in my pocket is my wallet, park map and daily schedule. What we put in the backpack depends on the time of year. In the summer, it could be rain jackets where i the winter it could be extra layers. We take snacks almost every day, extra cell phone charger, case for sunglasses so they don't get scratched or bent, shower curtain liners (to use as stroller cover, cover wet benches, etc). Wearing a backpack properly also helps distribute the weight between your shoulders and back as to not put too much stress on one particular area. You can find alot of bags at places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Stage, etc for a good bit cheaper than what you would pay at Dicks or Academy. Doesn't need to be anything too extravagant but we do prefer multiple compartments and places to stash our water bottles if we don't have the stroller. The only ride we don't take it on is Kali River Rapids.

Backpacks work well, but the smaller the backpack and the less stuff you bring the better your day will be.

Try to limit it to only one backpack then have everyone in your family who is able take turns being the pack mule.
