Background Check

I have a question hopefully someone can answer, I was accepted into the Disney College Program for this upcoming fall and from what I remember on the application it only asked about a criminal record, which I do not have, however, I have been arrested before. I know they do a background check when I get there, so would my being arrested only for misdemeanors and yet not having a criminal record be enough to turn me away when I get there?

I work in law enforcement and this is what I do. Any time you are arrested it will show on your criminal history...UNLESS you were a juvenile at the time..in that case...it wont. The outcome of your case (called the disposition) should be on the history as well. As far as the effect it can have on your employment...it varies depends on each employers "policy". Some places it doesn't matter even if you are not guilty they will not hire you if you have ANY arrest...others are more flexible...hope this helps....and good luck!

AFAIK the background check is mostly to make sure you're safe to work with children. that's what they told me they were checking for at my job at the disney store. so as long as your arrest wasn't for a sex crime, you should be good.

I have heard stories before of people who have something that they didn't declare on their application showing up on their background check and then being terminated.
