Back to Wonderland with a side of French Fries-New 3/15Mix up culture w/fun

I'm so sorry about you books. I'd be crushed. Even though I have tons, I never seem to want to part with any of them.

Well, I'm more than two weeks late for this PTR, but I just wanted to pop in and say "hi". I am so sorry to hear about your books. That is truely a bummer.

Enjoying reading about the fam again and since your trip isn't for awhile - well - I'll be hanging out until then!

Oh no! What a drag. We have a library (called such for the same reason!) and I know we would be soo soo sad if that happened. What a drag. I hope the cleanup isn't too hard to manage. Maybe some you can salvage?:confused3

Hey B...:thumbsup2...you should go back with Henry...for a family vaca:yay:...or not for a romantic trip...:lovestruc...if you go off season you could get a good airfare...maybe we could have a Dis Meet in NY...:cool1:

Yes, I agree! We haven't been back since Henry was 8 months old. :sad2:

Our house is currently on the market. For a while we thought we would move to Minneapolis/St. Paul; however, both of us have been longing to move back to NYC.....I've been looking up apartments in Brooklyn & Queens! Now if the darn house would just SELL (of if we could come up with $20K to bring to closing...:headache:)

Love your idea of the French Friday's! Very cute. As far as a theme for Alice's bday, I would do the mixed idea. Some funky teenage stuff and very Alice reservations - she will love that and it will be an unforgettable birthday for her I'm sure!

Love the pics of the kids in their costumes too!

I'm VERY sorry to hear about your library!!!! :sad2: Were you able to remove any of the books that are currently safe - just in case?

NYC? Would DH be able to transfer? What type of work does he do?

OMG P! I'm so, so sorry about your books!! I can totally understand you feeling the way you do! Something very precious and dear to your heart has been ruined. No matter what that's awful and I'm so sorry again!
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
Oh, my! I would totally freak if I lost my books. If any any of the damaged books were older or rare, let me know & I'll help you look if you want to replace them.

Pity Party Over...

I'm afraid I've been a very bad Diser...behind on my PTR, behind on all my reading of everyone else's TRs...I was a bit in a funk...because of the books, and the roof, etc...(and just life stuff...)

(& Thank you all for you very kind thoughts/remarks-I'll be responding and updating today-FOR REAL this time...:lmao:)

but

I went out with Em last night for a girls night...dinner and a movie...New Moon...and it was snowing out and so beautiful...and we had so much fun...and I realized it's all ok because it's really important to keep sight of the fact that Life is Good and stuff is always going to be happening...and it is what we make of it...:goodvibes

I also got an amazingly thoughtful 2 page message from Flossbolna all about Disney Land Paris...she wrote up the whole park and what we should make sure we see...(things that may be a little different than in WDW...It is amazingly helpful and was incredibly thoughtful that she and Nodnol spent the time discussing it and that Floss wrote it up...:goodvibes

So no more Grinchy Girl...I am all about the Holiday Spirit...:thumbsup2

Plus how could anyone be sad with this crazy crew at their side...(photo from Thanksgiving...the pets don't get along...but we love them anyway...the dog is Macintosh and the cat is Cosette...

I think we all go through those moments where we are completely bummed out about life in general! I am glad that seeing New Moon and hanging out with Em cheered you up!

You have to ride Phantom Manor for me Patricia and make sure you give me a very detailed report...I so want to see that one...of all the HMs and we know how I love HM that is the one that I really really want to see!!!

Love your Thanksgiving Family photo :thumbsup2

I'm glad that you are feeling better....
Love the Thanksgiving photo!
Your Cosette looks like our Boston Terrier Fenway!

Love the photo

And the spirit! I almost bought a bracelet for myself yesterday at a jewelry party..."Happiness is not a destination, it is a path"

Instead I went for "Speak kind words and you will hear kind echo's"

I decided I needed that reminder more!

Hi Patricia, nice picture of your family! Very bold wall colour! :thumbsup2

I have also been meaning to post additional suggestions for your French Fridays (did you ever get around to start them?)!

My parents tried to help me to come up with additional films and books and that's the result:

book: Desiree by Annemarie Selinko, it's the story of a young woman from Marseille who was first engaged to Napoleon and then married General Bernadotte who later became King of Sweden, so she ends up being Queen. It is a wonderful book and used to be a bestseller in the 50s. I read it when I was 14 and loved it. It was also made into a

film: Desiree (1954) with Marlon Brando as Napoleon.

book: Nicholas (Le Petit Nicolas) by Jean-Jacques Sempe and Rene Goscinny which is a very loveable children's book (I guess you might have read it in school it is very popular here in French classes)

film: any of the Louis de Funes films. He is a French comedian and there are lots of films with him. They are all rather silly and they used to be quite a lot on German TV when we were little and they always were great family films. Our favourite was "L'aile ou la cuisse" or the English title "The Wing and the Thigh".

Is Macintosh a Cairn Terrier? My friends have a dog that looks just like him. Of course, I am partial to Cosette (I love that name) because I love cats since I have 3 of them! :lovestruc

I still haven't finished all of my holiday decorating but I had a little bit of a start...definitely a bit of a spirit boost...

The snow that started last night sadly vanished and melted so I'm glad that Alice and are were out and got to share it...it was lovely...really big flakes...
I'm crazy for snow...I love how everything looks and it brings a certain muffled quiet with it...we don't usually get nearly as much snow as I'd like...I'm also a big fan of going out in the snow and then coming back in to a nice fire and hot chocolate or tea...:cloud9:

I guess it's because I love the snow that I have a bit of a thing for snowmen...and started collecting them right around the time Rabbit was born...it is a bit of a tradition now...Hatter gives me one the day after Thanksgiving...

100_1283.jpg

I also have a little village...(I have to get to Michaels for snow...that is a feather boa right now...:lmao:)

100_1291.jpg

and here is a special toy we bought some years back from WDW that we bring out just for the holidays...it's extra special this year because we'll be staying there in October...:goodvibes...there are Narcissus or paperwhites behind them...I adore that scent...that with the pine scent of the tree (when we get it...;) is what I think Heaven must smell like...:cloud9:

I'll post more as I get more done...:rolleyes1

& I just realized that Tuesday is 105 days or 15 weeks till our trip to Paris/DLP...which sounds like a lot of time but really isn't...just a little over 3 months...so I'm going to get Rabbit to help me make a countdown...and I just realized I'd better check my passport...

French Fridays may have to wait till after Christmas because of all of the holiday stuff but...everyone is going to find that Santa will be leaving them at least a little something French related this year...;)

& Rabbit informed asked me if there really was a Santa Claus today (he's 7...) I told him that I thought so and asked why he was asking he said that he sort of believed in Santa but wasn't quite sure how he worked it out......

The Roofers are starting work tomorrow...Hurrah! Probably about 1/3 of my books in there were ruined...but that still leaves 2/3s and lucky for me I have a whole seperate shelve for travel books and I have a bunch of stuff in my bedroom...oh heck who am I kidding...there probably isn't a room in the house that doesn't have any...well maybe one or two...;)

Ohhhhh, Patricia! I'm sooo terribly sorry about the loss of your much loved books. That would make me very sad too!
It sounds as if you have much to accomplish in that room to make it book worthy again.

Has anyone been sick because of the mold?

Hugs, hugs, hugs to you my friend!

 right back at you...and actually I think we've all felt a little bit more run down and it might just be the mold...mold doesn't agree with me at all...:sad2:

Oh Patricia...

I so understnad your woe :sad1: I am not a book lover...but you know I love my Scrappin'...less than 6 months after we moved into a current home (I was still preggar w/ Margaret) our whole basement flooded it was only maybe an inch and a half of water...but our basement is huge over 1200 sq ft..and we still had many boxes left to be unpacked on the floor...included my scrapbooking things.

I cried over the lost paper and stickers and several wrecked pages of books in progress...the kids just didn't understand how Mama could be crying over paper.

I hope the damage will be fixed soon and your room will be even more wonderful than before and hoping some bookstore gift cards will be in order to cheer you up!

J~

...Owww J, I know that must of been really rough for you...all those boxes...I don't scrapbook but I so appreciate it and love all those gorgeous papers......it's all relative and it the overall scheme of things not such a big deal but in the moment...:sad2: I feel your pain sister...

Oh Ps...

I may embaress myself and look for those Halloween pictures of me as Cleopatra...you'll have to excuse my early 90's hair wall though ;)

get back to you!

Hmmm...I'd like to see those...;)

Oh this is horrible!!! I think I would be really very sad if this happened to my books!
:hug::hug::hug:

I send you a lot of positive vibes across the Atlantic ...

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

... and maybe something to cheer you up: Flossbolna and I had a look at the DLP map and came up with some suggestions for your trip. You should get them very soon!

Thanks Nodnol...:hug:It was horrible but I'm feeling a bit better about it now...when the roof is fixed and the shelves...I'll just have empty spaces to fill...;)...that will be fun...

I did get Floss and your suggestions...I thought they were great and am going to post them down the road...Thank you so much for thinking of me they were amazing...:thumbsup2

I hope that your DH, Remy is starting to feel a bit more like himself...

Katharina just told me took at your PTR!! I am soooo sorry!! :scared1::scared1:

Many hugs and good thoughts from me!:hug::hug:

I love my books, too, and would be so sad if they were destroyed. Even though most of my books would be replaceable, it would be sad to loose those that I actually read!!

I don't know wether you like second hand books, I used to hate them. I wanted my books to look new and shiny. But then I had a boyfriend who was really into browsing second hand book shops and I learned to love them, too. Perhaps you could have some fun browsing second hand book shops to replace your loved books? It might actually turn into a nice project.:goodvibes

I know what you mean...they are replaceable but they all have a story that kind of goes with them...when/why you bought them...if they were gifts, etc...

I like new book stores and second hand books stores...it's all good...

Great Thanksgiving pic.

So funny that the pets won't even face each other! it's like they're saying "Hmph" :snooty:

You have the wilderness lodge in Lincoln logs?????????????

That is SO incredibly cool!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish there was something Disney I could add to my village but the series we have doesn't offer any. I would love a touch of it in there.

Sigh about Rabbit and the Santa question. I got a lot 2 years ago, a couple last year but none so far this year. They both admitted that they peek when they go to the bathroom xmas even though! Which freaked me out as Jeff and I are usually working around the tree for a good 2 hours. They peek from the upstairs balcony. I'm going to have to be more careful this year.

I loved Lincoln Logs when I was a kid! I think I will have to get that someday!
