Well I had chosen a property. It was through vrbo and in Reunion. I asked a couple questions..just about the water park and the location of the house so I could see it on the map. Then I said I was good to go. I did notice that email communication was taking a long time which started to make me nervous. Next thing I know, I get another vrbo response saying that property was booked. Naturally I thought it was a mistake and I was the one that booked it. I waited..nothing. So I emailed the guy again asking where the contract was. No answer but another its booked response from vrbo.

So I decided to move on. We are leaving on 11/21 with no place to stay. It kind of worked out though. My husbands work needs him back quicker. So we are shortening our time frame. We originally were driving...ugh.15 hours. But now we can put the money to fly.

So now I'm deciding between a couple really nice Windsor hills condos, couple of paradise palms and a couple of condos in reunion. They are all under $1000 so that made it so we can fly.

Do I guess it was meant to be. Now I gotta figure out which one. Will management companies drop the price if asked? Obviously they have to ask owner...but is it offensive to ask ? I don't mean dropping it a ridiculous amount..

Have you tried booking directly through an owner? That's usually the best way to get an instant price cut, because the huge commission to the management company is removed. We always book directly through the owner on Homeaway, Trip Advisor, or Vacation Rentals dot com. We have done this in many places besides Kissimmee and Orlando, it is just by far more economical. We have had owners give us discounts (like remove cleaning fee for stay over 7 days or week discount).

Yea..that is what I was doing...my issue is that it is coming up fast, so I don't have a lot of options. The ones I found in my price range happen to have management companies.

I'm renting a house in Highgrove through vrbo and communicated directly with the owner and received a discount. 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath for $750 for 9 nights. It's available for your dates...

My family rents through vrbo wherever we're vacationing. I always ask and usually receive some form of discount - booking fee waived, no cleaning fee, etc.

The payoff for the owner is that I've booked the same WH townhome the past 3 years and have accounted for at least 6 additional rentals from family and a co-worker - at a cost to the owner of free pool heat on my first visit. He now just offers me the free pool heat when I book.

Private owners know the value of repeat customers.

Curious- which unit do you usually book?

Ok... Help!!

So I have to figure out where I am going. Due to the problems I had..I ended up loving a condo 3 bedroom in Reunion. It was gorgeous but the dates got mixed up and someone is checking in on the 26th. I would need it until the 27th:rotfl2::sad2: OH well. It was beautiful though!

So now I am down to a couple paradise palms and a couple other condos in Reunion. I have been waiting for the quotes, so decided to take a looks while I was waiting. I found a nice looking home in Rolling hills at Formosa gardens..

It Looks nice but I don't know anything about that area?

Here is the home away number: 474313vb

The home looks very nice. Rolling Hills is next to Windsor Hills. We stay in this area when we're down. I've driven around RH but haven't stayed there. Indian Creek is across from it and we've stayed there a couple of times. You are only 5 min from 192 and tons of restaurants and more stores opening where the Super Target is ( TJ Max, Ross, Dollar Tree and more to come.) You're only 7 min from Animal Kingdom parking lot.

Thanks sympatico! You have been quite helpful to me through my process. It has been a long drawn out one.. But it has been fun too. So I guess that is what counts!

That seems pretty close. I don't mind being out a little ways from Dis because we will have our car ..but I don't want to be 45 minutes out.

I have read that it isn't a gated community and that seems to be a deal breaker for some..so I wasn't sure if it wasn't a very nice community.

I think I asked you before about Shire at Westhaven. As I said, waiting to hear back from owners last night, I went through a ton and I mean ton of home away listings. I couldn't believe how many there were! I never went that far in my search.

In fact, I started to be able to tell which neighborhood by seeing the front of the house!:lmao:

Anyhow a Shire home just came up that I never saw. It looks awesome! But again I am unsure about the community. I think it said it was near Champions Gate..which I thought was very close to Reunion?

Thanks for all your help.. After all this research..i think I will be able to return the favor to others. I think I will pay attention driving too and look at all the neighborhoods so I can report back about the upkeep and things like that!

We've never had a problem with gated or ungated communities. Indian Creek isn't gate either and it's fine. Rolling Hills isn't as big and it's very quick to get to everything. The West Haven communities are further out for sure but it's not a long drive using Champion's Gate and I 4. I know what you mean about being able to recognize the community by the style of the house. That means the you've spent far too long on the computer looking for a home to rent. :rotfl:
